Almost a Year
Moss Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Don't want to keep up with anything
Keeping it all in mine
I waited for so many times
So, did you?
Don't want to keep up with anything
We check back to all the cynical once I go
We don't need insomnia
You can't cure at all
Everything you did I told you so
We don't need insomnia
You can't cure at all
Everything you did I told you so
Don't want to keep up with anything
I'll be keeping it all in mine
Keeping all the same too long, now did you?
Don't want to keep up with anything
It feels logical in mind
Talk back to all the cynical once I go
We don't need insomnia
You can't cure at all
Everything I did I told you so
We don't need insomnia
You can't cure at all
Everything you did I told you so
And when it's so fine
You still go
Don't want to keep up with anything
The song "Almost a Year" by Moss speaks of a desire to detach oneself from worldly concerns and conformities. The lyrics suggest a sense of weariness and a need for a retreat just to escape the rat race. The repeated phrase "Don't want to keep up with anything" indicates a reluctance to engage with the outside world and a preference for inner contemplation.
The lines "Keeping it all in mine/ I waited for so many times / So, did you?" hint at a sense of isolation, as the singer seems to be seeking connection but only encounters silence. The phrase "It belongs to my own mind" suggests that the singer is refusing to share their thoughts and emotions with anyone else, preferring to keep them closely guarded.
The chorus, which repeats the phrase "We don't need insomnia / You can't cure at all / Everything you did I told you so," seems to carry a note of resentment, perhaps aimed at someone who has not been supportive or has caused disappointment. The overall tone of the song is introspective and questioning, with a hint of bitterness and a yearning for peace and solitude.
