Originally, the band featured former Indecision guitarists Justin Brannan and Rachel Rosen, as well as on-again off-again Indecision vocalist Tom Sheehan. On their debut full-length for Trustkill Records, Nothing In Vain, Brannan played guitar and Rosen bass, Sheehan did vocals and the band featured a constant rotation of drummers, as no drummer has stayed with Most Precious Blood for too long.
In 2003, after Sheehan departed the band, while initially finding themselves without a vocalist, the band soon teamed up with former One King Down vocalist Rob Fusco, added Matt Miller on bass and moved Rosen to second guitar for their second album Our Lady of Annihilation, also on Trustkill Records.
One of the more striking features of the band is that all members have always had strong vegan and pro-animal rights beliefs (Our Lady of Annihilation came with a small flyer for the animal rights organization PETA, for example).

Most Precious Blood Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
And left suffer the absence
Words have failed me once again.
Attempts at completion
Have again left me empty.
Fate's design
Has forced me
(repeat 1x)
to live without
(repeat 2x)
And when I close my eyes
I envision
One so undeserving of your presence
One who does not appreciate you as I
One who needs not struggle with your absence.
(repeat 1x)
I've seen it happen
In other peoples lives
And now it's happened in mine.
The opening lines of the song "Bound by inability and left suffer the absence" immediately set the tone of hopelessness and feeling trapped. The singer feels unable to escape their situation and is suffering from the absence of something important, perhaps a person or connection. The following lines "Words have failed me once again. Attempts at completion have again left me empty" suggest that the singer has tried to communicate their feelings but have been unsuccessful in finding the right words. They have attempted to find a solution but have come up empty-handed. The line "Fate's design has forced me" implies that the situation is beyond their control, and they are being forced to live with it.
The chorus "to live without" repeated twice emphasizes the feeling of emptiness, indicating that the singer is without something or someone critical in their life. The verse "And when I close my eyes, I envision one so undeserving of your presence, one who does not appreciate you as I, one who needs not struggle with your absence" suggests that the singer is imagining someone who doesn't value or appreciate what they have in their life, perhaps the person who is absent from their life. There is a sense of bitterness and resentment towards the person who doesn't seem to struggle with their absence.
The final verse "I've seen it happen in other peoples' lives, and now it's happened to mine" reinforces the idea that the situation the singer is in is not unique. They have witnessed others who have felt the same way, and now it's their turn to experience the same emotions. Overall, the song conveys a feeling of helplessness and desperation, with the singer struggling to find a way out of their situation.
