Motörhead released 23 studio albums, 10 live recordings, 12 compilation albums and five EPs over a career spanning 40 years. Usually a power trio, they had particular success in the early 1980s with several successful singles in the UK Top 40 chart. The albums Overkill, Bomber, Ace of Spades and, particularly, the live album No Sleep 'til Hammersmith cemented Motörhead's reputation as a top-tier rock band. The band are ranked number 26 on VH1's 100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock. As of 2016, they have sold more than 15 million albums worldwide.
Most often classified as heavy metal, Motörhead has been credited with being part of and influencing numerous musical scenes, thrash metal and speed metal especially. Lemmy, however, always insisted that they were a rock and roll band. He said that they had more in common with punk bands, but with their own unique sound, Motörhead is embraced in both punk and metal scenes. Their lyrics typically covered such topics as war, good versus evil, abuse of power, promiscuous sex, substance abuse and, most famously, gambling, the latter theme being the focus of their hit song "Ace of Spades".
Lemmy died on 28 December 2015 from cardiac arrhythmia and congestive heart failure, after being diagnosed with prostate cancer. The day after his death, drummer Mikkey Dee and guitarist Phil Campbell both confirmed that Motörhead had disbanded. By 2018, all three members of Motörhead's best-known line-up (Lemmy, Taylor and Clarke) had died.

Ain't My Crime
Motörhead Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Just watch me flip the bird, right in your lyin' eyes
You just can't figure out, why I'm the way I am
I'm low-life born and bred, and I don't give a damn
[Chorus:]
I've had enough, I'm stepping out of line
Ain't gonna stop me babe, you ain't worth a dime
You might've broke my heart
And if you broke my heart
I know it ain't my crime
I'm here to tell you, was here and now I'm gone
You need a wages slave, but I sure ain't the one
I'm moving off the lot, just hire another act
I don't need what you got, that ain't where I'm at
[Chorus]
Just show me the door, here I go again
I seen it all before, happens now and then
No tears in your eyes, sure ain't none in mine
Two people in disguise, frozen in time
The lyrics to Motörhead’s song “Ain’t My Crime” are a powerful expression of defiance and independence that resist the manipulation and oppression of a former lover. The song starts by declaring that the singer of the song is not fooled by his ex-girlfriend’s lies anymore. He is beyond any influence that she could have on him and keeps a cool attitude even when he is faced with dishonesty. He flips her off in a way that shows contempt and disregard for her as he no longer cares about her lies. He is who he is, and no one can change that. He is a low-life born and bred, and he does not care about what anyone thinks of him.
The chorus is a rallying cry to break out of the mold and not be constrained anymore. The singer says that he has had enough and is stepping out of line. He is not going to take it anymore and is breaking free from the chains that his ex-girlfriend had on him. He does not care about her anymore and believes that she was just a waste of time for him. Although she may have hurt him, he understands that he was not the one who caused the problem, it was her. He won't bear the guilt of her actions, and he is ready to move on.
Finally, he is ready to take the next step in his life. He tells his ex-girlfriend that he is gone, and she needs to look for someone else who is willing to be her wage slave. He is not going to be held back or suppressed by anyone, and he will continue to move ahead with his life.
Overall, this song is a message of hope and independence, a reminder to stay strong, keep your head up and never be held back by anyone.
