Motörhead released 23 studio albums, 10 live recordings, 12 compilation albums and five EPs over a career spanning 40 years. Usually a power trio, they had particular success in the early 1980s with several successful singles in the UK Top 40 chart. The albums Overkill, Bomber, Ace of Spades and, particularly, the live album No Sleep 'til Hammersmith cemented Motörhead's reputation as a top-tier rock band. The band are ranked number 26 on VH1's 100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock. As of 2016, they have sold more than 15 million albums worldwide.
Most often classified as heavy metal, Motörhead has been credited with being part of and influencing numerous musical scenes, thrash metal and speed metal especially. Lemmy, however, always insisted that they were a rock and roll band. He said that they had more in common with punk bands, but with their own unique sound, Motörhead is embraced in both punk and metal scenes. Their lyrics typically covered such topics as war, good versus evil, abuse of power, promiscuous sex, substance abuse and, most famously, gambling, the latter theme being the focus of their hit song "Ace of Spades".
Lemmy died on 28 December 2015 from cardiac arrhythmia and congestive heart failure, after being diagnosed with prostate cancer. The day after his death, drummer Mikkey Dee and guitarist Phil Campbell both confirmed that Motörhead had disbanded. By 2018, all three members of Motörhead's best-known line-up (Lemmy, Taylor and Clarke) had died.

I hope you son of bitches see the light
You again, you again
I know you've got a mental age of ten
Listen up, listen up
I wouldn't swap you for a thousand bucks
Come on, you're the one
I think I'm going to switch your lazer on
[Chorus]
I've got the medicine you need
I've got the power, I've got the speed
I'll find out how to stop your clock
We sure ain't talking Doctor Spock
Hear me talking, Doctor Rock.
Lay down, turn around
Here come the sister gonna strip you down
Shut up, breathe in
Lets have the address of your next of kin
Chin up, shoulders back
You've got a body like a Marshall stack
Keep still, take your pill
Or I'm gonna make you really ill.
[Chorus]
Next please, next please
Try to separate those cowardly knees
X-ray, you've gotta pay
The only chance you've ever got of getting away
Here we are, what's the scar
I don't like anything I've seen so far
Pay me, pay me
I ain't no doctor of philosophy
[Chorus]
The lyrics to Motörhead's song "Doctor Rock" are about someone who is going to fix you, whether you like it or not. The singer of the song is the doctor himself, and he is addressing his patient directly. He tells them that he has the medicine they need and the power and speed to help them. He mocks them for their mental age, but also reassures them that he wouldn't trade them for anything.
The chorus of the song is a statement of this, with the singer asserting that he has the medicine they need and that he is the one in control. The lyrics are meant to be humorous and somewhat tongue-in-cheek, with the singer's arrogance and bravado being a part of the joke. He tells his patient to lay down, turn around, and get ready for the treatment. He orders them to shut up and breathe, and demands to know the address of their next of kin.
The song plays with the idea of the doctor as a powerful figure who can fix anything, but also reveals the dark side of that power. The doctor in the song is not a kindly, wise figure, but rather a brash and arrogant man who is eager to exert his control over his patient. The song is ultimately a humorous take on the power dynamics between doctors and their patients and the ways in which those dynamics can be subverted.
