Motörhead released 23 studio albums, 10 live recordings, 12 compilation albums and five EPs over a career spanning 40 years. Usually a power trio, they had particular success in the early 1980s with several successful singles in the UK Top 40 chart. The albums Overkill, Bomber, Ace of Spades and, particularly, the live album No Sleep 'til Hammersmith cemented Motörhead's reputation as a top-tier rock band. The band are ranked number 26 on VH1's 100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock. As of 2016, they have sold more than 15 million albums worldwide.
Most often classified as heavy metal, Motörhead has been credited with being part of and influencing numerous musical scenes, thrash metal and speed metal especially. Lemmy, however, always insisted that they were a rock and roll band. He said that they had more in common with punk bands, but with their own unique sound, Motörhead is embraced in both punk and metal scenes. Their lyrics typically covered such topics as war, good versus evil, abuse of power, promiscuous sex, substance abuse and, most famously, gambling, the latter theme being the focus of their hit song "Ace of Spades".
Lemmy died on 28 December 2015 from cardiac arrhythmia and congestive heart failure, after being diagnosed with prostate cancer. The day after his death, drummer Mikkey Dee and guitarist Phil Campbell both confirmed that Motörhead had disbanded. By 2018, all three members of Motörhead's best-known line-up (Lemmy, Taylor and Clarke) had died.

Can you light me up tonight?
I'd like to see you burn me down
Why don't you let me light your fire?
Why don't you let me stoke you higher?
(Fire, fire) holocaust
(Fire, fire) given up for lost
(Fire, fire) strike one, strike two
You're quick to learn
I love to watch you burn
Come any time I'll torch you out
Only you can create the flame
Only you can scorch my brain
(Fire, fire) conflagration
(Fire, fire) hellfire, damnation
(Fire, fire) strike six, strike eight
(Fire, fire) I think you're great
You can't put me out
But there ain't no doubt
You ain't nowhere near safe with me
You ain't the first to turn me down
You ain't the first to turn me round
(Fire, fire) big black smoke
(Fire, fire) ain't no joke
(Fire, fire) strike nine, strike ten
(Fire, fire you strike out again
The lyrics to Motörhead's song "Fire Fire" depict a seductive exchange between two people who are drawn to each other like flames. The lead singer, Lemmy, describes their interaction as a mutual combustion of sorts, comparing their chemistry to a raging wildfire that consumes everything in its path. Lemmy sings about wanting to be burned by this other person but also acknowledges that they have the power to ignite his own passion. He also warns them that he is not someone to be taken lightly and that they should proceed with caution. Throughout the song, there is a sense of danger and excitement that underlies the lyrics, building up to a fiery crescendo.
One possible interpretation of the song is that it is about the power struggle between two people who are equally matched in terms of their intensity and desire. The repeated refrain of "Fire, fire" could be seen as a metaphor for the intense heat of their passion, which threatens to consume them both. The lyrics also suggest a sense of inevitability, as if the two people are destined to collide like two flames in the wind.
Overall, "Fire Fire" is a powerful and evocative song that captures the raw energy and intensity of Motörhead's signature sound.
