Motörhead released 23 studio albums, 10 live recordings, 12 compilation albums and five EPs over a career spanning 40 years. Usually a power trio, they had particular success in the early 1980s with several successful singles in the UK Top 40 chart. The albums Overkill, Bomber, Ace of Spades and, particularly, the live album No Sleep 'til Hammersmith cemented Motörhead's reputation as a top-tier rock band. The band are ranked number 26 on VH1's 100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock. As of 2016, they have sold more than 15 million albums worldwide.
Most often classified as heavy metal, Motörhead has been credited with being part of and influencing numerous musical scenes, thrash metal and speed metal especially. Lemmy, however, always insisted that they were a rock and roll band. He said that they had more in common with punk bands, but with their own unique sound, Motörhead is embraced in both punk and metal scenes. Their lyrics typically covered such topics as war, good versus evil, abuse of power, promiscuous sex, substance abuse and, most famously, gambling, the latter theme being the focus of their hit song "Ace of Spades".
Lemmy died on 28 December 2015 from cardiac arrhythmia and congestive heart failure, after being diagnosed with prostate cancer. The day after his death, drummer Mikkey Dee and guitarist Phil Campbell both confirmed that Motörhead had disbanded. By 2018, all three members of Motörhead's best-known line-up (Lemmy, Taylor and Clarke) had died.

Remember Me I'm Gone
Motörhead Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Coulda made it happen, but it didn't come true
Some other guys got you home and dry
Only been the one, same old song
Remember Me, I'm Gone
You're such a beauty, one of my best
Could've stopped me running, could have beat the rest
Guess I'm not the one, the same old song
Remember me, I'm Gone
I miss all the good times, you know your name
You ain't mine no longer, it's a crying shame
Now you and your old man got you in the slam
Must have done you wrong, same old song
Remember me, I'm Gone
The song "Remember Me I'm Gone" by Motörhead carries a strong sense of loss and regret throughout its lyrics. The song starts with the singer expressing disbelief that he has lost someone he had feelings for. The next few lines reveal that he had a chance to be with this person but could not make it happen. The following line about "some other guys" suggests that the singer's potential romantic interest went for someone else. The repetition of "same old song" highlights a sense of monotony and predictability in the situation.
The second set of verses starts with the singer admiring the person they lost, calling them "such a beauty" and acknowledging that this person could have stopped him from leaving ("could have beat the rest"). The next line about "another face" occupying his place suggests that the person he lost has moved on with someone else. The repetition of "same old song" acts as a refrain for the chorus, driving home the sense of predictability and hopelessness.
The final lines reveal that the person the singer lost is now in prison with their significant other ("old man"), leading the singer to believe that something went wrong. The phrase "it's a crying shame" highlights the sorrow and regret that the singer feels in the wake of the situation. Overall, "Remember Me I'm Gone" tells a story of lost love, missed opportunities, and regret.

Everyone dies, it had to happen one day, especially considering his lifestyle. But still... it's impossible not to be sad.
Anyway, he has lived a thousand lives, changed music forever and will be remembered for eternity.
Saw them live this summer, had I missed that opportunity I would have, literally, never been able to forgive myself.
Rest in Peace, Lemmy.

I'm not sad. The man did all he could to do what he loved right up to the moment of his death. What more could you wish for? He lived a good life, we should all be smiling at the old memories.
