Motörhead released 23 studio albums, 10 live recordings, 12 compilation albums and five EPs over a career spanning 40 years. Usually a power trio, they had particular success in the early 1980s with several successful singles in the UK Top 40 chart. The albums Overkill, Bomber, Ace of Spades and, particularly, the live album No Sleep 'til Hammersmith cemented Motörhead's reputation as a top-tier rock band. The band are ranked number 26 on VH1's 100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock. As of 2016, they have sold more than 15 million albums worldwide.
Most often classified as heavy metal, Motörhead has been credited with being part of and influencing numerous musical scenes, thrash metal and speed metal especially. Lemmy, however, always insisted that they were a rock and roll band. He said that they had more in common with punk bands, but with their own unique sound, Motörhead is embraced in both punk and metal scenes. Their lyrics typically covered such topics as war, good versus evil, abuse of power, promiscuous sex, substance abuse and, most famously, gambling, the latter theme being the focus of their hit song "Ace of Spades".
Lemmy died on 28 December 2015 from cardiac arrhythmia and congestive heart failure, after being diagnosed with prostate cancer. The day after his death, drummer Mikkey Dee and guitarist Phil Campbell both confirmed that Motörhead had disbanded. By 2018, all three members of Motörhead's best-known line-up (Lemmy, Taylor and Clarke) had died.

You will never be the same again
Let the beat into you, let it turn you 'round
Let it be your best friend
You are the future, it's your time
You and you and you
Stay together this is yours and mine
What we're gonna do
Rock out, rock out, rock out
Let it crush your fear
Rock out, rock out, rock out
And you can get it here
Here comes the bass, thunder in the guts
Rock 'til you can't stand
Now the guitar speaks, gonna drive you nuts
Power under your hand
You are the people, now you shine
You and you and you
Stay together, let me speak the line
What you gonna do?
Rock out, rock out, rock out
Let it crush your fear
Rock out, rock out, rock out
You can get it here
Rock out, rock out, with your cock out
Impress your lady friends
Rock out, rock out, rock out
'Til your life is at an end
The lyrics to Motorhead's song "Rock Out" are an anthem for the power of music and the feeling of liberation it can bring. The opening lines soon set the tone for the electrifying experience that follows, as Lemmy Kilmister's distinctive gravelly voice leads the charge with the words "Hear the music coming, loud as you can stand, you will never be the same again." This immediately establishes the euphoric and life-changing nature of the music. The lyrics then encourage the listener to embrace the rhythm and let it become their "best friend," promising that they are "the future" and that this is their time.
The verses continue to harness the power of music as the bass and guitar drive the beat forward. The lines "Here comes the bass, thunder in the guts, rock 'til you can't stand" and "now the guitar speaks, gonna drive you nuts, power under your hand" paint a vivid description of the raw energy and unbridled passion that music can evoke. The refrain of "Rock out, rock out, rock out" becomes a rallying cry, encouraging the listeners to let go of their fears and inhibitions and fully immerse themselves in the experience.
Overall, "Rock Out" is a tribute to the transformative power of music and the sense of community it can build. The lyrics urge listeners to come together, to let the rhythm move them, and to rock out until they've left their mark on the world.

"Here comes the BASS, thunder in the guts"
Thank you Lemmy for the "thunder in the guts" from the first time I saw Motorhead live in '87 until I see you and again in Valhalla.
You will forever be the epitome of rock and roll, in human form.
