Motörhead released 23 studio albums, 10 live recordings, 12 compilation albums and five EPs over a career spanning 40 years. Usually a power trio, they had particular success in the early 1980s with several successful singles in the UK Top 40 chart. The albums Overkill, Bomber, Ace of Spades and, particularly, the live album No Sleep 'til Hammersmith cemented Motörhead's reputation as a top-tier rock band. The band are ranked number 26 on VH1's 100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock. As of 2016, they have sold more than 15 million albums worldwide.
Most often classified as heavy metal, Motörhead has been credited with being part of and influencing numerous musical scenes, thrash metal and speed metal especially. Lemmy, however, always insisted that they were a rock and roll band. He said that they had more in common with punk bands, but with their own unique sound, Motörhead is embraced in both punk and metal scenes. Their lyrics typically covered such topics as war, good versus evil, abuse of power, promiscuous sex, substance abuse and, most famously, gambling, the latter theme being the focus of their hit song "Ace of Spades".
Lemmy died on 28 December 2015 from cardiac arrhythmia and congestive heart failure, after being diagnosed with prostate cancer. The day after his death, drummer Mikkey Dee and guitarist Phil Campbell both confirmed that Motörhead had disbanded. By 2018, all three members of Motörhead's best-known line-up (Lemmy, Taylor and Clarke) had died.

Too Late Too Late
Motörhead Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Insist on playing games
Some waste their time and more
I am still popular
Permission since you fix
I got to gas -- get
Or just another job
Oh no surly not
Your rude, but you're absolute
Stalemate, ahh too late, too late
I thought you were for real
Just won the river deal
Don't give me all that crap
I just escaped your trap
But didn't you see the joke
Then you're just chasin' smoke
You found another one
An old story's done
Your rude, but you're absolute
Stalemate, ahh too late, too late
Misunderstanding me
The way you felt so free
I'm gonna jump the gun
I'm gonna cut an' run
You're gonna do it see
I've got no ice in me
And now the thrill is gone
An old story's done
Your rude, but you're absolute
Stalemate, ahh too late, too late
The lyrics to this song seem to be expressing frustration and dissatisfaction with someone who is playing games and wasting time. The singer seems to be popular and in demand, but they are tired of dealing with someone who is rude and unwilling to take things seriously. They feel like they have been trapped or manipulated in some way, but they have managed to escape and move on. The singer is using language that suggests a sense of urgency and impending action, such as "I see that nothin's safe," and "I'm gonna jump the gun / I'm gonna cut an' run."
There is a sense of finality and resolution in the chorus, where the singer declares that it is "too late" for the other person to try and make things right. They are at a "stalemate," which suggests a situation where neither party can make any progress or gain any advantage. The repeated phrase "your rude, but you're absolute" seems to sum up the other person's behavior as being both objectionable and unchangeable.
Overall, the lyrics to "Too Late Too Late" suggest a sense of frustration and impatience with someone who is unreliable or deceptive. The singer seems to have tried to make things work with this person, but ultimately they have come to the realization that it is not worth the effort. The language used in the song suggests a sense of urgency and action, as the singer is ready to move on and leave this situation behind.
