Faith, violence, a casualty of the 2nd world war and the birth-place of psychedelic music. Canterbury - a city in the garden of England has a rich history and it's against this backdrop that the band 'Motion Picture Soundtrack' formed in the winter of 2003 and attempted to create music as vast and haunting in sound as the city's cathedral itself.
Alastair Blackwood (vocals), Nick Watts (guitar), Will Hasler (bass) and Graeme Blackwood (drums) originally having grown up in different parts of the UK including a few years in the U.S. met while studying at university and discovered they shared a mutual love of film soundtracks - the source of inspiration for the band name and not - as many people assume - the track by Radiohead. As a result, they decided to form a band with the express purpose of combining the fragility of Thomas Newman, the ethereal beauty of Jon Hopkins & Cocteau Twins with the power, aggression and sonic theatrics of Hans Zimmer, Muse and Arcade Fire.
Having released their debut album 'The Shapes We Fear Are Of Our Own' in March 2010, the band were asked to play a Maida Vale session for BBC Introducing, won the Camden Crawl Emerging Talent DIY award and rounded the year off with a slot at the Reading & Leeds festival. Motion Picture Soundtrack have now returned to the music scene after a lengthy absence having finally completed work on their second album 'Iconoclast' (due for release early 2015).
'Piano IV' is the first track to be taken from the album and will be released on 1st December 2014. Cinematic, anthemic, full of purpose and energy - Piano IV is a joyous statement of intent from a band who have endured a difficult and protracted few years writing, self-producing, engineering and mixing this record entirely on their own. The release signifies the quality of material to be found on the forthcoming album and is both a more immediate and cinematic experience than its predecessor.

@@Adam_Kazmi 😁👍 I’m aware this version is from 1995. I enjoy providing history of the original song so people know how far back this song actually goes.
The N-Trance single, a cover of the Bee Gees hit "Stayin' Alive", was not only a massive international hit, but also featured a vocalist who would help define N-Trance's sound in the future, Ricardo da Force, former rapper with The KLF. Upon its release in the UK it debuted at No. 2 and internationally it became one of the biggest UK exports of 1995, reaching No. 1 in Australia and being top 5 in a number of European charts.
Ricardo da Force, was an English vocalist, rapper, and DJ, most notable for contributing vocals to house and dance music tracks of The KLF and N-Trance.
I grew up in the Rhythm and blues, rock ‘n roll, soul sound of the 1960s and enjoyed the disco era of the 1970s and then the dance era of the 1980s and 1990s and beyond… I have a huge 12” vinyl collection and again on CDs and plan to DJ again.
However, very sad to hear the guy died so young.
