(3) A garage rock band from Vancouver, British Columbia.
(4) A garage rock two piece from Rome, Italy. The grrrls are playing post-punk garage with a great weird tremelo guitar they call "elephant-fuzz". These two girls (once they were three) have been playing since 2000. Their music is so frantic and energetic that seems hard to believe there isn't a full band. This girly duo is all about rocking hard with a great punkish/d.i.y attitude and a greasy garage sound. Motorama are raw and filthy, just like a riot girl band supposed to be. Their music ranges from the late 80's/early 90's riot grrrls sound which defined bands such as Babes In Toyland and Hole (on their first album) to more forward thinking acts like Sonic Youth and Blonde Redhead to the vibrating energies of Atari Teenage Riot , minus the electronics. Their latest album "Psychotronic is the Beat" was put out by Dead Beat Records. Current line-up: Daniella (guitar, vox), Irene (drums, back vox).

Motorama Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I haven't been here before
I haven't been here before
I haven't been here
Where everything sinks in your beautiful thoughts
Where my pleasure is light of a firework
I stand still on the edge, can't remember that feeling
Rain and fog
I travelled by train too long
I travelled by train for so long
I travelled by train alone
Unfamiliar sound of a mystery place
I was lying alone with the hands on my face
I was lying alone with a miserable feeling of felicity
The lyrics of Motorama's song Normandy evoke a sense of displacement and longing. The repetition of "I haven't been here before" underscores the feeling of being in an unfamiliar place. The second verse delves into the singer's interior landscape, where their "beautiful thoughts" are sinking in. The contrast between the heightened pleasure of a "firework" and the singer's numbness and lack of feeling ("can't remember that feeling") creates a poignant tension. The third verse reveals that the singer has been travelling by train for a long time, perhaps in search of something or escaping from something. The mystery place they have ended up in is both unfamiliar and miserable, as they lie alone with their hands on their face, feeling an uncomfortable mix of happiness and sadness.
