(1) Moving Pictures were a rock music group formed in Sydney, Australia in the early 1980s.
The group was comprised of Alex Smith (vocals), Garry Frost (guitar), Andrew Thompson (saxophone), Charlie Cole (keyboards), Ian Lees (bass) and Paul Freeland (drums).
The band had several hit singles and albums in their native Australia, including the single "What About Me", which remained at number one for two months in 1982. Its success led them to America where it also became a hit, reaching #29 on the Billboard singles chart. In fact, "What About Me" stayed in the Hot 100 for such a long time that it managed to make Billboard's year-end Hot 100 list for 1983, at #88 [1] - a rare feat for a single with such a low peak position.
They contributed one song, "Never", to the Footloose movie soundtrack but were unable to capitalize on their initial success. They returned to Australia, and achieved a few minor hits, but their career quickly faded.
(2) Chity and Carlos are joyous indie-kids in a glass house. Saccharine? Wimpish? Squeaky clean? Twee? . Probably. In any case Moving Pictures first single received a great deal of attention from the media. Mark Radcliffe (BBC Radio One) give them constant airplay. Their debut album "Without friends" was clearly influenced by Sarah Records, The Go-Betweens, Mc Carthy, Bridge, France Gall, Brilliant Corners, Bodines, New Order, Cardigans, Françoise Hardy... Taste their cutesy-pie records!
Despite the hostile environment that pop bands face, there is a legion of acts with inmutable convictions and creative sparks. The international indie scene shows different bands from distant places as Shoestrings, Cessna, Club 8, Jumprope .... with similar horizons, songwriting patterns,life-styles and musical ears. Even with no hit singles they have a strong loyal audience awaiting their sporadic concerts and records. Their unpretentiousness, antiseptic image and sincerety are incontestable. Moving Pictures is not a duo. It's an entity.
(3) Moving Pictures is a post rock band from New Hampshire consisting of Ben Rogers (drums), Jentri Jollimore (keyboard, vocals) and Randy Patrick (guitars, vocals). Their first album, "Age of Reason" was released in 2008.

Moving Pictures Lyrics

It's beating time with mine
But love love love is on the line
He holds you down
But I know you want to run
You're hot hot loaded like a gun
Start with nothing and you've got nothing to lose
You can never never never ever hide your heart
Don't you ever ever ever ever try
If you don't give your heart wings you'll
Never never never ever fly
Break down the walls
You've got to cut the ties
There's pain pain burning in your eyes
It's time to fight
It's time for tearing free
Oh come come running straight to me
Oh you know he don't love you like I do
Don't make believe that you don't feel it too
You can never never never ever hide your heart
Don't you ever ever ever ever try oh no
If you don't give your heart wings you'll
Never never never ever fly
You never fly, if you want you can fly
The Moving Pictures song "Never" explores themes of love, freedom, and the struggle to break free from a suffocating relationship. The lyrics describe a situation where the singer desires to escape a relationship that is holding them down but feels trapped and confused. The song encourages the singer to break down the walls, cut ties, and fight to be free. The singer is warned against hiding their heart and never allowing themselves to fly.
The first verse sets the stage for the emotional turmoil of the singer. The use of the words "beating time with mine" implies a deep connection between the singer and the subject of the song, possibly a lover or partner. However, this connection is subsequently shown to be strained, with the subject holding the singer down, and the singer feeling trapped and confused. The singer is described as being "hot hot loaded like a gun," possibly indicating a sense of restlessness and pent-up energy.
In the second verse, the song becomes more assertive, with the singer being encouraged to break free from the shackles of the relationship. They are urged to "cut the ties," despite the pain burning in their eyes. The song then takes a turn, with the singer being reminded that they will never be able to hide their heart. The use of the word "never" is repeated several times, highlighting the importance of embracing their desires and pursuing their dreams.
Overall, the song is a powerful anthem of freedom and encouraging the listener to find the courage to break free from relationships that no longer serve them.
