I said that I will but I won't
I said that I will
And I said that I will
I said that I will but I won't
I said that I can but I don't
I said that I can but I don't
And I said that I can
I said that I can but I don't
Sha-sha-shake
Sha-sha-shake
Sha-sha-shake it off
Sha-sha-shake
Sha-sha-shake
Sha-sha-shake it off
I said that I will but I won't
I said that I will but I won't
I said that I will
And I said that I will
I said that I will but I won't
I said that I do but I don't
I said that I do but I don't
I said that I do
And I said that I do
I said that I do but I don't
Sha-sha-shake
Sha-sha-shake
Sha-sha-shake it off
Sha-sha-shake
Sha-sha-shake
Sha-sha-shake it off
The lyrics of Mr. Del's song "Shake 'Em Off" showcase the struggle of going against one's own words and promises. The repetition of "I said that I will but I won't" and "I said that I can but I don't" highlights the internal conflict and indecisiveness of the singer. They speak of wanting to do something or being capable of it, but ultimately failing to follow through.
However, the chorus offers a solution for this dilemma. By simply "shake(ing) it off," the singer can let go of their doubts and insecurities and move forward. The "Sha-sha-shake" repetition of the chorus, with its upbeat and catchy rhythm, reinforces the idea of shaking off negativity and embracing positivity.
Overall, "Shake 'Em Off" encourages listeners to let go of their fears and doubts and to pursue their goals with confidence.
