Merry Fking Christmas
Mr. Garrison The 3rd Grade Teacher Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Have yourself a merry little Christmas
Let your heart be light
From now on, our troubles will be out of sight
Have yourself a merry little Christmas
Make the Yuletide gay
From now on, our troubles will be miles away
Here we are as in olden days
Happy golden days of yore
Faithful friends who are dear to us
Gather near to us once more
Through the years we all will be together
If the fates allow
So hang a shining star upon the highest bough
And have yourself a merry little Christmas now

Have yourself a merry little Christmas
Let your heart be light
From now on, our troubles will be out of sight
Have yourself a merry little Christmas
Make the Yuletide gay

From now on, our troubles will be miles away
Here we are as in olden days
Happy golden days of yore
Faithful friends who are dear to us
Gather near to us once more
Through the years we all will be together
If the fates allow

So hang a shining star upon the highest bough
And have yourself a merry little Christmas now

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Mr. Garrison's song "Merry Fking Christmas" are actually a parody of the classic holiday song "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas." The original song was written by Hugh Martin and Ralph Blane in 1943 and was sung by Judy Garland in the musical film "Meet Me in St. Louis."

The song speaks of the joy and happiness of the Christmas season, with lyrics encouraging listeners to let their hearts be light and forget their troubles from the rest of the year. The song celebrates the reunion of friends and family during the holiday season, and looks forward to many more happy Christmases in the future.

Mr. Garrison's parody, on the other hand, subverts the cheerful and optimistic tone of the original. The lyrics are filled with profanity and depict the singer's frustration and disappointment with the holiday season. The song spoofs the commercialization and superficiality of Christmas, with the singer expressing disdain for the gifts, food, and decorations usually associated with the holiday.

Overall, "Merry Fking Christmas" is a humorous and irreverent take on a beloved classic, with lyrics that playfully poke fun at the traditional trappings of the holiday season.

My hat's off to the crew that composed, arranged, scored and ultimately recorded this ultimate of all Christmas Classics.

Unless this was a full-on digital start-to-finish creation, it must have been a blast, seeing the que on the music stand, fresh from the copyist with the ink still wet on the viola parts. Hell, there are even chimes in this tune. Fucking chimes and tinkly bells.

"Merry Fucking Christmas"

Maybe I let my imagination get away from me.

Cute tune.
