RescuE
Mr. Little Jeans Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

My dress is torn, you have a black eye
You got from a giving kind
But your coat is big and I am warm
I'll ask if I can walk you home

Grey like the gravel under our shoes
The sky doesn't clarify
Simple is something of a mystery
No longer making sense to me

Got a gun and an eagles eye
But would like somewhere safe to hide
You've a reason and so have I, it's true

I'm gonna rescue you
So you can rescue me too
Make it a rendezvous

I got my best dress on
And you've a smile and a bruise
So come and rescue me,
And me you

I am the heat in an empty room
The cold coming through the walls
Your sofas' old, but I am new
And there is better on the brew

My breath is soft, your hands are unlocked
Un-manned and un-vertical
I feel strings without the black n blues
A weekend in a weekdays shoes

Got a gun and an eagles eye
But would like somewhere safe to hide
You've a reason and so have I, it's true

I'm gonna rescue you
So you can rescue me too
Make it a rendezvous

I got my best dress on
And you've a smile and a bruise

So come and rescue me
And me you

Overall Meaning

The song "Rescue" by Mr. Little Jeans is a poignant and introspective exploration of the complexities of relationships. The opening lines set the stage for a potentially volatile encounter between two individuals - one with a torn dress and the other with a black eye. Despite their physical differences, the singer offers to walk the other person home, emphasizing their desire to offer comfort and help. The chorus emphasizes the importance of mutual rescue, noting that both individuals have the power to help and heal each other.

As the song progresses, the imagery becomes more abstract and metaphorical. The grey sky and the mystery of simplicity suggest a growing sense of confusion and uncertainty. Despite this, there is a sense of hopefulness and determination. The singer expresses a desire for safety and security, but acknowledges that they too have a reason for seeking it out. Ultimately, the song ends on a note of mutual support and bravery, with both individuals willing to rescue and be rescued by each other.

Overall, "Rescue" is a powerful and thought-provoking song about the complexities of human relationships. It emphasizes the importance of mutual support and care, while also acknowledging the difficulties and challenges that can arise along the way.

This song reminds me of 2015. Just one year after graduating high school and still feeling no responsibilities yet, some of my friends are having their own cars so it was the first time we'd all actually go out on adventures rather than just hang out close by. Miss those days. Im 26 now and even tho we're all still in touch, those freshmen years of post high school life was so much fun.

She's such an underrated artist. To me Mr. Little Jean is brilliant. Plus she took her name from one of my all-time favorite movies.... Rushmore. ❤
