Being half French and half Jewish Met came up battling on street corner ciphers and local Mc competitions with a mission to prove himself as an mc. Met attended LaGuardia “Fame” high school of the performing arts as a vocal major in the late 80’s and began searching for a path to follow in music.
As a concert pianist in the 50’s, Met’s grandmother was a big inspiration and attribution to his natural ability to play keys and produce music. Big Daddy Kane was Met’s first influence to writing rhymes. Kane said “you could put wings on your tongue and still couldn’t say nothing fly” and met thought it was the most genius thing he had ever heard. After he heard that line, met sacrificed every minute of his day thinking of clever punch lines, metaphors, and wordplay to show off to the neighborhood hip hop heads. This is where the name “Mr. Metaphor” was born. He started calling radio stations like Martin Moore and DJ Meham, Stretch Armstrong and Bobbito, and any other radio station he could get his voice heard on.
He began making a local buzz for himself. After internal conflict with his first group “SUB 4”, met decided to accept the invite from the other local Park Slope group making noise “Zooty Zoo”, and joined forces with Building Block (Block McCloud) and Will Tell. The 3 artists formed the group Word A Mouth and went on to be featured on the Lyricist Lounge Volume 1 album hosted by De La Soul. This Album was released in the golden era of hip hop and opened up an audience to Mr. Met so detrimental to his success today.
Soon the legendary Pumpkinhead, another Park Slope native MC came into the picture and the chemistry between the artists was like none other. They formed the Brooklyn Academy and went on to release a number of independently released records that topped college radio, billboard and dance charts.
Mr Met released his first and only independently produced album “Metropolis” in 2005. Experimental and mainly self produced, met composed a play list of no sample songs he created on the Triton Keyboard, playing different melodies and chords, singing his hooks, and experimenting with his bi-lingual capability to rap and sing in French. That same year met traveled to Cannes France with the Lyricist Lounge for the “Midem” conference, and made some strong business contacts with many international music companies around the world.
Along with experimenting on the musical side of hip hop, met decided to step into the business side of the entertainment business and began event coordinating and throwing parties. He started Remarcable Entertainment which has now gained a very respectful reputation for its brand. Met has worked with Funk Master Flex of NY’s hot 97, DJ Gold finger, DJ Red Alert, Stretch Armstrong, Rich Medina, and has gained relationships with hundreds of DJ’s in NYC. As a solo artist met has toured England, Canada, France, and has performed in Vermont, Albany.
New Jersey, and countless venue’s in NYC. As a member of Brooklyn Academy Met has toured all over the world and countless cities up and down the east coast and the Midwest. Met is a highly respected artists. He is your favorite artist’s favorite artist. His witty lines, advanced flows, bi-lingual raps, and incomparable ability to write a song separates him from the over saturation of mc’s in the hip hop game. He is a true professional song composer made for the entertainment business.

Oh, right, oh
Oh, why, na-da-da-da
[Chorus]
I keep my head high
I got my wings to carry me
I don't know freedom
I want my dreams to rescue me
I keep my faith strong
I ask the Lord to follow me
I've been unfaithful
I don't know why you call on me
[Verse 1]
This is my canvas (Yeah, my canvas)
I'ma paint it how I want it baby, oh I
This is my canvas
I'ma paint it, paint it, paint it, how I want it nigga
Fuck you 'cause there, there is no right or wrong, only a song
I like to write alone, be in my zone
Think back to Forest Hills, no perfect home
But the only thing like home I've ever known
Until they snatched it from my mama
And foreclosed her on the loan
I'm so sorry that I left you there to deal with that alone
I was up in New York City chasing panties, getting dome
Had no clue what you was going through
How could you be so strong?
And how could I be so selfish? I know I can be so selfish
I could tell by how I treat you with my girl, damn she so selfless
But she put up with my ways because she loves me like you do
And though it don't always show, I love her just like I love you, and
I need to treat you better
Wish you could live forever
So we could spend more time together
I love you mama
[Chorus]
I keep my head high
I got my wings to carry me
I don't know freedom
I want my dreams to rescue me
I keep my faith strong
I ask the Lord to follow me
I've been unfaithful
I don't know why you call on me

Hello
J. Cole
No Role Modelz
J. Cole
[Post-Chorus]
E-e-eee, e-e, apparently
You believe in me, you believe in me
E-e-eee, e-e, apparently
You believe in me, and I thank you for it, oh, I
[Verse 2]
Another day, another rhyme, ho
Another day, another time zone
Today, I woke up feeling horny so it's only right, I got two bitches playing on my trombone
Keep up, never sure where the words would take me
Niggas eat em up and regurgitate me
Shit trump tight never slurred it lazy
Give a virgin the urge to rape me, nigga please
Best friends really make great for enemies
My watch came, niggas can't wait for one of these
I see you, nigga, this ain't no Rolex, it's an AP, nigga
I'm hot, dog, catch up to me, nigga— huh, couldn't resist
Aim for the stars and I shouldn't have missed
But I was riding on fumes, so I stopped by the moon
Now I'm sitting on the hood of this bitch
Like, "Thanks for the view," waiting on thanks from a few
'Cause without me you wouldn't exist
You know that shit, gave you the blueprint, don't forget
Cole is your phone on zero percent
Going off, now niggas showing off
Niggas swear they hard, but they flowing soft
I'm taking off like "boing!" on a big ass Boeing, and getting head like a coin toss, too easy
[Chorus]
I keep my head high
I got my wings to carry me
I don't know freedom
I want my dreams to rescue me
I keep my faith strong
I ask the Lord to follow me
I've been unfaithful
I don't know why you call on me
[Post-Chorus]
E-e-eee, e-e, apparently
You believe in me, you believe in me
E-e-eee, e-e, apparently
You believe in me, and I thank you for it, oh I
