Mr. Rush makes high-energy indie rock mixed with more melancholic and trippy elements and a hint of punk attitude. With inspiration from the alternative rock scene from the 90s. Here they put words to feelings of division, refuge and doubt of belonging, for a generation that has a hard time finding their place.

In the spring of 2021 the band went to KlitmΓΈller to record their debut EP: Cold Hawaii Session. The record consists of three fully produced songs, two live sessions and an interlude connecting the two parts.
Despite the lo-fi production, Cold Hawaii Session is still riddled with a lush and gorgeous group of textures and smooth feels that make it unique as it plays out with a sort of late 90s underground style.
The EP was well received by the online music reviewer page The Sounds Wonβt Stop who wrote:

βThe record boasts outstanding keys and guitars that act as the rhythm instruments but almost always have these great bridges and experimental feels whether its delayed and aggressive lead guitar sections, swelling keys, and growing percussion. Each new track boasts a slightly different vibe but they all flow together like water somehow.β

Mr. Rush Lyrics

To run in our streets
History some new wrinkle
We are doomed to repeat
Fugitives at the bedroom door
Lovers pause to find an open store
Rain is burning on the forest floor
This is not a false alarm
This is not a test
Stay out of the sun
It only burns my skin
Sky full of poison
And the atmosphere's too thin
Bless the sun, the rain no more
River running like an open sore
Black wind falling through the ocean floor
And the red tide washes ashore
This is not a false alarm
This is not a test
Nowhere we can fly away
Nowhere we can rest
The party is disrupted by
An uninvited guest
Deadline approaches
For the weary land
It used to be something
But we let it run down in our hands
Too late for debate, too bad to ignore
Quiet rebellion leads to open war
Bring a sea-change to the factory floor
As the red tide covers the shore
Now is the time to turn the tide
Now is the time to fight
Let us not go gently
To the endless winter night
Now is the time to make the time
While hope is still in sight
Let us not go gently
To the endless winter night
Let us not go gently
To the endless winter night
This is not a false alarm
This is not a test
Nowhere we can fly away
Nowhere we can rest
Let us not go gently
To the endless winter night
Let us not go gently
To the endless winter night
Let us not go gently
To the endless winter night
The lyrics of Red by Mr. Rush seem to be a commentary on the state of the environment and society. It speaks of the current state of things being dire, with nature seemingly turning against humanity, and history repeating itself with new plagues and wrinkles. The imagery of rain burning the forest floor and the red tide kissing the shore evokes a sense of danger and looming disaster.
The lyrics also seem to suggest that this is not just a temporary or false problem. It is not a test nor a false alarm. The party being disrupted by an uninvited guest and the deadline approaching for weary land further highlights the urgency of the situation. The call for action is clear, to turn the tide and fight against the endless winter night that awaits if nothing is done.
The lyrics also encourage us to make use of the time we have left while there is still hope. The line "Now is the time to make the time, while hope is still in sight" suggests that it is not too late to take action and that we should not give up just yet. The repetition of "Let us not go gently to the endless winter night" further reinforces this message.
Overall, the lyrics of Red discuss the repercussions of humanity's neglect and abuse of the environment and society. It encourages the listener to take action against the current state of disparity and do what they can to prevent the impending disaster.

How fortunate we are not to experience "Shouting guards and smoking guns"
All that we can do is just survive
All that we can do to help ourselves is stay alive
All that we can do is just survive
All that we can do to help ourselves is stay alive
Ragged lines of ragged grey
Skeletons, they shuffle away
Shouting guards and smoking guns
Will cut down the unlucky ones
I clutch the wire fence until my fingers bleed
A wound that will not heal, a heart that cannot feel
Hoping that the horror will recede
Hoping that tomorrow, we'll all be freed
Sickness to insanity
Prayer to profanity
Days and weeks and months go by
Don't feel the hunger, too weak to cry
I hear the sound of gunfire at the prison gate
Are the liberators here, do I hope or do I fear?
For my father and my brother, it's too late
But I must help my mother stand up straight
Are we the last ones left alive?
Are we the only human beings to survive?
Are we the last ones left alive?
Are we the only human beings to survive?
I hear the sound of gunfire at the prison gate
Are the liberators here, do I hope or do I fear?
For my father and my brother, it's too late
But I must help my mother stand up straight
Are we the last ones left alive?
Are we the only human beings to survive?
Are we the last ones left alive?
Are we the only human beings to survive?

As a Drummer myself, the last thing I need is someone telling me what to do!!!!!!
Drummers are free spirits and the only person we need to listen to is, ourselves.
Neil was technically proficient, not great.
With all due respect to RUSH fans, they are too clinical and sterile for my taste in Rock music.
it's too clean and careful.
A lot of Canadians and Amerians probably aren't very familiiar with English Rockers STATUS QUO, they are massive everywhere else in the universe.
I recommend you listen to their massive album output from 1968 to present day.
33 studio albums. Their double LIVE album released in 1977 is the best LIVE album ever recorded.
Francis Rossi on Lead Guitar and vocals, he plays with soul
Rick Parfitt is the best and greatest Rhythm Guitarist in history and a great singer.
From psychedelic Rock in the 60's to Stoner Hard Rock of '70 & '71
to Hard Rockin' Boogie all thru the 70's and into the highs and lows of the 80's and 90's then to hit back with some of the greatest Rock albums ever made in the Noughties and 2010's. Superlatives cannot describe how great STATUS QUO are.
Honest, genuine, sincere tight punchy raw Rock n Roll that's STATUS QUO!!!!
The Sex Pistols liked STATUS QUO because of their attitude to the music industry and the world in general.
The QUO basically said ' if you don't like what we're doing then you can get fuck#d!!!!!!'
Being technical and intricate doesn't make you a great Guitarist or Drummer.
In fact it lacks warmth and feeling and humanity.
RUSH fans need to listen to RAW POWER by THE STOOGES from 1973.
The production and mix is dirty and mirky and really filthy. It is a 'thing' of great beauty.
On STATUS QUO albums you can hear the boys yelling to each other and making real human sounds whilst they record 'LIVE' in the studio.
QUO don't do 50 over dubs like REO SPEEDWAGON. or RUSH.
Punk n New Wave was a mule kickin' against the sterility of bands like RUSH

agreed.
@marcman0013
Not even close
@Deetroiter
Truth. Thereβs A LOT of sound these three guys make. I was always blown away by how efficient and skilled each of them are at their respective instruments, yet they make them fit hand in hand with each other. Like the OP said, THE gold standard for sure
@kelleymcbride4633
Can't argue with that
