A Tale of Two Cities (2007–2009)
The production ... on the band's debut album uses acoustic guitar interspersed with classically informed piano, soulful, Motown-inspired backing vocals and bass guitar, steelpan, electric drums and unusual rhythm patterns to create an expansive sound. Two of the tracks from A Tale of Two Cities are covers; "On The Street Where You Live", ..................mr hudson rules.................is a cover of a number from the musical My Fair Lady[9] and "Everything Happens to Me" is a well known Great American Songbook classic as popularised by the likes of Frank Sinatra and Chet Baker. The album was greeted with warm reviews from the music press.
[edit]Straight No Chaser (2009 – present)
According to Amazon.com, on 1 December 2009, Mr Hudson is set to release a new album, Straight No Chaser (via G.O.O.D. Music and Mercury Records), executive produced by Kanye West.
"I wanted to make a mainstream record, not structured or ornate," he explains. "The first album feels like an Escher drawing, all these layers and you don't know where you're going at any point. The way the songs are written and produced on this one is much more direct. It's not trying to reinvent the wheel. It's straight, no chaser.

Heaven can wait we're only watching the skies
Hoping for the best but expecting the worst
Are you going to drop the bomb or not?
Let us die young or let us live forever
We don't have the power but we never say never
Sitting in a sandpit, life is a short trip
Forever young, I want to be forever young
Do you really want to live forever?
Forever, or never
Forever young, I want to be forever young
Do you really want to live forever?
Forever, or never
Some are like water, some are like the heat
Some are a melody and some are the beat
Sooner or later they all will be gone
Why don't they stay young
It's so hard to get old without a cause
I don't want to perish like a fading horse
Youth's like diamonds in the sun
And diamonds are forever young
Forever young, I want to be forever young (forever young)
Do you really want to live forever?
Forever, or never
Forever young, I want to be forever young (forever young)
Do you really want to live forever?
Forever, or never
Forever young, I want to be forever young (forever young)
Do you really want to live forever?
Forever, or never young
(Or never young)
Mr Hudson's song Forever Young is a classic anthem that resonates with people of all generations. The lyrics convey the desire to live in a world where everyone can remain young, vibrant, and carefree forever. The opening lines, "Let's dance in style, let's dance for a while, Heaven can wait we're only watching the skies," set the mood for a night of youthful exuberance, where time is of no concern. The song reflects on how life is unpredictable, and one cannot assume that things will always be the same. The phrase "Hoping for the best but expecting the worst, are you going to drop the bomb or not?" suggests that life is uncertain, and one must enjoy every moment while they can.
The chorus line "Forever young, I want to be forever young" is repeated multiple times throughout the song, and it reinforces the theme of the song. The desire to remain young and carefree forever is a universal aspiration that everyone can relate to. The song suggests that life is short and must be lived to the fullest. Life is a sandpit, and we have to make the most of it during our short stay on this planet. The music is for the sad men, who can find solace in youth and can use the melody to escape their reality.
The song speaks to a generation that is often cynical about the future and is grappling with the uncertainties of life. It touches on themes of youth, hope, and the desire to remain young forever. The song encourages people to live in the moment and to enjoy every minute of their life. It is a timeless classic that will continue to resonate with people for generations to come.

You don't realize how fast life really passes by and how quickly it can end,
How it's the same day after day and you don't see any of yo friends.
Life goes on and da bills pile up,
After the divorce you wish you had a pre-nup.
The kids, dey don't wanna see you,
The new dad? He's the man no matter what you do.
Every night its What's fo dinner? and a fight wit the significant other,
Everything ya do is always nitpicked by her mother.
I could go on and on but you get the picture,
You get poorer while everyone else gets richer.
