A Tale of Two Cities (2007–2009)
The production ... on the band's debut album uses acoustic guitar interspersed with classically informed piano, soulful, Motown-inspired backing vocals and bass guitar, steelpan, electric drums and unusual rhythm patterns to create an expansive sound. Two of the tracks from A Tale of Two Cities are covers; "On The Street Where You Live", ..................mr hudson rules.................is a cover of a number from the musical My Fair Lady[9] and "Everything Happens to Me" is a well known Great American Songbook classic as popularised by the likes of Frank Sinatra and Chet Baker. The album was greeted with warm reviews from the music press.
[edit]Straight No Chaser (2009 – present)
According to Amazon.com, on 1 December 2009, Mr Hudson is set to release a new album, Straight No Chaser (via G.O.O.D. Music and Mercury Records), executive produced by Kanye West.
"I wanted to make a mainstream record, not structured or ornate," he explains. "The first album feels like an Escher drawing, all these layers and you don't know where you're going at any point. The way the songs are written and produced on this one is much more direct. It's not trying to reinvent the wheel. It's straight, no chaser.

Cannot dance
They think they can
But they can't
I'd rather hide
In your arms
Take the lead
In the dark
And move with me
So I could move with you, oh
Is that my name on your lips?
Cause it is what it is
Don't stop, Don't stop, Don't stop
Until we...
Come a little closer
At the risk of being blunt
Girls round here
Know what they want
Let's turn an hour into a month
I'll show the way in the dark
And move with me
Show me how to move with you, oh
Is that my name on your lips?
Cause it is what it is
Don't stop, Don't stop
Just because we want to push
Doesn't mean we've got to rush
Just because I want to push
Doesn't mean I've got to rush
Move with me
Show me how to move with you, oh
Is that my name on your lips?
Cause it is what it is
Don't stop, Don't stop, Don't stop
Until we...
Move with me
Show me how to move with you, oh
Is that my name on your lips?
Cause it is what it is
Don't stop, Don't stop
Don't stop, don't stop
Until we...
Don't stop, don't stop
Until we...
Don't, don't, don't stop
Don't stop until we...
The song "Move" by Mr. Hudson talks about a man who cannot dance and would rather hide in someone's arms and be led in the dark. The lyrics are about surrendering to another person's lead and escaping the limitations of one's self. The chorus "move with me, show me how to move with you" signifies the need to connect with someone physically and emotionally. The song suggests that people crave intimacy, trust and vulnerability especially when it comes to dancing with someone they love.
Mr. Hudson wrote the song to explore the feeling of inhibition and the connection that can happen between two people when they dance together. He wanted to capture the essence of that emotion and how it can be brought out through movement.
One of the key phrases in the song is, "Is that my name on your lips? Cause it is what it is." The repetition of this phrase suggests that the person singing the song wants the other person to acknowledge that they are together in that moment and to embrace that connection.
The lyrics also comment on the difference between English and American attitudes to dance. The phrase "English men cannot dance" is a stereotype that suggests that English people may be more reserved or less likely to let go and enjoy themselves on the dance floor. The song is a comment on this stereotype and offers the idea that dancing can be a way to connect with someone on a deeper level.
Overall, "Move" is a song about the desire for connection and intimacy through dance. It suggests that there is a power in letting go and following the lead of another person, and that this can result in a deeper emotional connection.
