In 2008, Cooper decided to make dubstep music after he heard dubstep godfathers Benga and Skream, at the New Zealand music festivals Phat09 and Splore, saying that he had his "mind blown" by the young genre. He also started making drum and bass music around the same time, which was inspired by the Front Left Speaker Crew and Joe Hockley.
In 2008, Cooper's girlfriend's little brother suggested he make a YouTube page for himself to post music on. He called the page "MtEdenDnB08" because he lived in Mt Eden. That was when Cooper decided to release music under the pseudonym "Mt Eden Dubstep", later changing his name to simply "Mt Eden" in 2010, when Cooper recruited Rayner. Mt Eden released their first EP MEDS for digital download on 7 December 2010. Within months their total hit count was in the millions and rising - all of a sudden the bedroom producers and amateur DJs were staring down the barrel of international renown, and feeling appropriately blown away. Rayner says, "It felt like the weight was shifted when we put out MEDS, because we finally had a body of original work we could be proud of and that was well received."
Having first made their mark with the epic βSierra Leone', Mt Eden have since remixed tracks by Ruby Frost, Six60 and legendary producer DJ Fresh, as well as many other incredible local and international artists - simultaneously building a large enough collection of their own material to warrant the recent release of their EP MEDS.
Let Go
Mt Eden Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Mmm, are you in or are you out
Leave your things behind
'cause it's all going off without you
x2
Excuse me, too busy you're writing your tragedy
These mishaps
When you've no idea what you're like
Inaudible
The lyrics of Mt Eden's song "Let Go" suggest the idea of living in the present moment and embracing the present instead of dwelling on the past. The opening phrase "drink up, baby down, mmm, are you in or are you out" implies a sense of urgency and an invitation to immerse oneself in the moment without hesitation. The repeated phrase "leave your things behind 'cause it's all going off without you" emphasizes the idea of letting go of the past and focusing on the present moment, urging us to detach ourselves from material possessions that hold us back and distract us from the present.
The second part of the lyrics "excuse me, too busy you're writing your tragedy, these mishaps, you bubble wrap when you've no idea what you're like" suggests that we often create our own obstacles and get caught up in our own negative narratives or tragedies, and this prevents us from truly experiencing life. The word "mishaps" implies that mistakes happen, and instead of dwelling on them, we should accept them and move forward. The line "you bubble wrap when you've no idea what you're like" suggests that people tend to insulate themselves from the world when they lack self-awareness and are afraid to take risks, which ultimately prevents them from fully experiencing life.
Overall, "Let Go" urges the listener to embrace the present moment, let go of the past, and take risks without fear. It's a reminder that life is short and that we should embrace every moment.

Here after 9-11 years of not hearing it. I found dubstep when it was from UK and nobody knew anything. I miss my childhood :) Things were so simpler
