Someday Not Soon
Much the Same Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Gone from the one your closest friend
There is no doubt your love is something real
Goodbyes are hard, the pain will heal
I wish I had some scholarly advice
Something that could make it all go away
But I will always be there when you call
'Cause I'm always here, I'll always care
I'm praying for you I want you to be aware
Someday not soon the memories of pain will fade away
But a contented love will always remain
I've been through this myself a couple times before
I wish I could say it wouldn't be so bad
The second song to you is not more cheery than the last
I wish it didn't have to be so sad
In Much The Same's song "Someday Not Soon," the lyrics explore the difficult experience of losing someone who was once a close friend and lover. The first verse acknowledges the reality of the situation, recognizing that even the most loving relationships can come to an end. While the pain of separation may be difficult to bear, the love that existed between the two people was genuine and will not easily be forgotten.
The chorus provides a message of hope and support to the person who has been left behind. The singer promises to be there for the person in their time of need, to offer a shoulder to cry on and to pray for their well-being. While the memories of heartbreak may never completely disappear, the singer expresses the belief that someday, the pain will begin to fade away and be replaced with a sense of contentment.
The final verse reveals that the singer has been through this kind of loss before, but the experience has not made it any easier. He wishes he could give his friend some more positive advice, but instead he can only offer his unwavering support and empathy.
