Muddy Waters Lyrics

My, my, my, my
Don't you worry 'bout what's on your mind (oh my)
I'm in no hurry I can take my time (oh my)
I'm going red and my tongue's getting tied (tongues' getting tied)
I'm off my head and my mouth's getting dry.
I'm high, but I try, try, try (oh my)
Let's spend the night together
Now I need you more than ever
Let's spend the night together now

I feel so strong that I can't disguise (oh my)
Let's spend the night together
But I just can't apologize (oh no)
Let's spend the night together
Don't hang me up and don't let me down (don't let me down)
We could have fun just groovin' around around and around
Oh my, my
Let's spend the night together
Now I need you more than ever
Let's spend the night together

Let's spend the night together
Now I need you more than ever

You know I'm smiling baby
You need some guiding baby
I'm just deciding baby; now-
I need you more than ever
Let's spend the night together
Let's spend the night together now

This doesn't happen to me ev'ryday (oh my)
Let's spend the night together
No excuses offered anyway (oh my)
Let's spend the night together
I'll satisfy your every need (every need)
And I now know you will satisfy me
Oh my, my, my, my, my
Let's spend the night together

Now I need you more than ever
Let's spend the night together now

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Muddy Waters's song "Let's Spend The Night Together" revolve around a desire for physical intimacy and a call to action to the other person to spend the night together. The opening lines reflect the singer's eagerness and assurance that the person he is addressing should not worry about anything else that may be on their mind. He is in no hurry and can take his time. However, he is also excited and nervous, which is conveyed through his red complexion, dry mouth, and tied tongue. The chorus repeats the invitation to spend the night together and emphasizes the intensity of his need for this person. He is so strong that he cannot disguise his desire any longer, and he provides reassurance that they will have fun just grooving around.

The second verse begins with the singer's admission that this type of encounter doesn't happen to him every day. However, he provides no excuses for his desire and repeats the invitation to spend the night together. He promises to satisfy the other person's every need and suggests that they will satisfy him. The last section of the song refers to the singer's confidence in his ability to guide the other person and their mutual decision to spend the night together.

Overall, the lyrics of "Let's Spend The Night Together" are straightforward and communicate the singer's desire for physical intimacy. However, the song's tone is also playful, and the singer seems to be asking the other person for consent rather than demanding their participation.

Makes the original sound like school boys; which is what The Stones were at the time! They were studying at the school of blues/rock. Muddy is the master on this one!

Iván Andrade

Of course, but don't forgett the powerfull " Niggies" Cosey, Faulkner and Upchurch.....

The music sounds like "Sunshine of My Love"! He turns the tables & does a song by people who did a lot of his. In my "Stones..covered" playlist with versions by David Bowie, Tina Turner, Charo (!), Non-Fiction & Scott Pilgrim, along with the original. Thanks for the upload!

Guessing this is a first pressing rip straight from the record? So glad that the organ drone is included at the beginning, newer pressings seem to cut that out and drown out the organ drastically.

I like this version better than the stones version.

Peter Cosey, Roland Faulkner and Phil Upchurch on Guitars.... Who missing Jimmy Hendrix ?

Muddy hated this album. Critics too.

Fans loved the backup band.
