Their name was chosen after reading a magazine article which told the story of some Pernambuco’s citizens who used to eat mice found on garbage.
Mukeka di Rato with two K’s was supposed to sound like some crust bands from Finland to which they used to listen. It also represents the sarcasm that appears as a peculiarity in their lyrics and band posture throughout the years.

Mukeka di Rato Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
The lyrics of Mukeka di Rato's song Dislexia are loaded with socio-political commentary on the state of society and the individual's ability to navigate their way through it. The opening line "O pior que você fez, foi fazer o que talvez não tem nada em comum, vai comer tutu!" suggests criticism towards conformity and blind obedience as opposed to individuality and diversity. The line "Vida! Vida! Faz valer o que? Vida! Vida! O nosso viver!" on the other hand, hints at the importance of living one's life to the fullest and not conforming to societal expectations.
The second verse delves deeper into the complexities of navigating through society with little guidance or support. The lines "Inocência ou rebeldia? Nazi-Democracia tanto faz, ninguém faz nada, joga tudo na privada!" highlight the conflicts between innocence and rebellion in a society that is repressive and apathetic. The fact that individuals are left to their own devices with no guidance from society or the government is symbolized in the line "joga tudo na privada!", which means everything is thrown down the drain.
The chorus of the song is a repeated refrain that emphasizes the need for individuals to take control of their lives and make something of it despite the difficulties they face. The lines "Você não sabe ler e nem sabe o que quer ser Engenheiro ou lixeiro? Mas um dia vai crescer!" portray the difficulties that people face while trying to figure out their life choices in a society that does not provide support. The song overall deals with the difficulties and challenges faced by individuals in navigating through society and the importance of individuality and self-reliance.
