Their name was chosen after reading a magazine article which told the story of some Pernambuco’s citizens who used to eat mice found on garbage.
Mukeka di Rato with two K’s was supposed to sound like some crust bands from Finland to which they used to listen. It also represents the sarcasm that appears as a peculiarity in their lyrics and band posture throughout the years.

The lyrics to Mukeka Di Rato's "Enxurrada" explore the theme of artificiality and the impact it has on our perception of reality. The first verse begins with the lines "Prove do meu gosto, Artificial, Toque minha pele, Virtual," which suggests a detachment from genuine human interaction. The use of the words artificial and virtual here imply that what we are experiencing is not real and may even be a façade. This detachment continues in the second verse with the line "Veja minhas curvas, Bidimensional" which suggests that what we are seeing is not a real person but a two-dimensional image or a digital model. The repeated use of "Virtual, Artificial" and "Artificial, Virtual" creates a sense of repetition and reinforces the idea of artificiality, which is further emphasised by the chorus.
The chorus further emphasises this theme, with the lines "Corpo é bom negócio, Mergulhe nesse lamaçal, Experimente, engula! Enxurrada de lixo cultural!" The use of the phrase "Corpo é bom negócio" suggests that our bodies have become a commodity to be sold and consumed. This is further emphasised by the reference to a "lamaçal" or a mud pool, which suggests that our perception of reality has become muddied and unclear. The use of the phrase "Experimente, engula!" suggests that we are being fed something, whether we want it or not, and that we should consume it without question. The final line "Enxurrada de lixo cultural!" suggests that what we are being fed is not good for us and is, in fact, a cultural waste product.
Overall, the lyrics to "Enxurrada" suggest that our perception of reality has become skewed and that we are consuming artificial and virtual experiences without questioning their authenticity.
