Their name was chosen after reading a magazine article which told the story of some Pernambuco’s citizens who used to eat mice found on garbage.
Mukeka di Rato with two K’s was supposed to sound like some crust bands from Finland to which they used to listen. It also represents the sarcasm that appears as a peculiarity in their lyrics and band posture throughout the years.

The lyrics of Mukeka di Rato's "Jogo do Bicho" are filled with dark and foreboding imagery that paint a picture of a world where danger and deceit lurk around every corner. The opening lines describe a "nest of snakes," a "basket of cats," and a "crazy place of scorpions," alluding to the treacherous environment in which the song's characters find themselves. The next lines use animal metaphors to describe the people in this world, with "naive prey" and "camouflaged assassins" lurking around every corner. The final lines speak to the chaos and violence that surrounds them, with mentions of explosives, artillery, and bomb attacks.
Taken as a whole, "Jogo do Bicho" speaks to the corruption and danger that can take over a society when powerful forces are allowed to operate in secrecy and without accountability. In the song's world, even the supposedly innocent and simple game of "jogo do bicho" (a Brazilian form of gambling) is tainted by this pervasive sense of danger and mistrust. The lyrics warn of the dangers of living in a world where truth and justice are constantly under attack, and where darkness can infiltrate even the most seemingly benign elements of daily life.
