well, no. not entirely anyway. shes a bit of both, in my eyes. mulan was never meant to be a fully feminine princess, no, but we see in the part of the movie where she's in disguise that she flounders in a fully masculine warrior role as well. it's not until the end of the movie, when she embraces both her masculine and feminine sides that she's truly in her element, when she is fighting the hun on the rooftop, and uses the fan, a symbol of her femininity, to disarm her opponent and fight using his sword, a symbol of her masculinity.

she's not just a princess, but she's not just a warrior either. she's both, and that's okay.

I LOVE the combination of Chinese instruments with orchestral instruments like the violin. Lea Solanga's beautiful voice with these ensures I will ALWAYS get chills listening to this. Definitely one of the best scores in any Disney movie.

This song reminds me of Tris Prior. She wasn't selfless so if she was to be who she really was and choose Dauntless, she'd break her family's hearts by leaving them. She dressed and acted like the Dauntless, but her reflection didnt show who she really was— Divergent. No matter how hard she tried, she couldnt forget the part of her that was Abnegation. No matter which side of her shw embraced, SOMEONE would be upset with her. I love this song even more now.

The song "Reflection" was meant to be much longer, but the filmmakers wanted to save time in the movie. In the deleted version, Mulan not only takes off her bun, makeup, and jewelry, she also takes off her sashes. Also, the deleted version shows Mulan riding Khan through mountains and paddy fields.

The bible makes it clear that God is holy. This holy God holds a perfect moral standard. Sadly, we have all fallen way short of that standard(Romans 3:23). The penalty for sin/imperfection is Hell(Revelation 21:8).
