The Temple
Mumm-Ra Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Don't disrespect cause I'll straight correct
As I'm lifting up my fist I'll find your chin and then connect
It's about how you act yo skipping hitting a plateau
I'm a classless asshole I'm a king in a castle
It's my empire as if I'm Ross Perot
When philosophy meets poetry like Henry D Thoreau
Meets Rousseau what you know when I let the haters know
Slipping hitting dipping and kicking it like it's Tae Kwon Do
I'm sick of pacifist thought man would you fucking just stop
Dealing amethyst rock instead of cannabis pot
Habitual it's ritual it's whatever you want to call it
Elevating to another plane and grabbing knowledge
Tempo offsetting heat that's why your sweating
And now you going down in flames like you was Otis Redding
These despicable political inexplicable criminals
Simply unforgivable a fact that's unequivocal
A nation that's divisible hating it and we miserable
Living life this predictable bordering the unthinkable
Living life this predictable bordering the unthinkable
Cool wind replenish the energy spent
In the argument against a battle for supremacy
One not control one son you know the rules
You know where you come from sun you hold tools
Sharp tip spent time on the grind
Stone faced my elements are refined
Go head send the inquisition apply pressure
I betcha before they finish their intention they bow
I plow six mile furrows three hands deep
Plant seeds from the Burroughs reap a Flatbush
Passion push em over the edge
Now they asking us how can this zealous one dwell among the heads
Sitting patient awaiting an explanation for truth
Fucking my wordplay up suck on the fruits
Of my validated pass to pass for flash cards
Some hate to have to do math to find proof
Issue that decree to murder my last sons but
Yo they getting Murked fore they touch the first one

Hit em high DESIGN BUILD bombed across the sky in stencils
Welcome to the temple

Overall Meaning

The song "The Temple" by Mumm-Ra is filled with complex wordplay and references that require careful interpretation. In the first verse, Mumm-Ra talks about not tolerating disrespect and declares himself a "classless asshole" and "king in a castle." He compares himself to Ross Perot, a former US presidential candidate, and recognizes the influence of philosophers like Henry D Thoreau and Rousseau on his thinking. He encourages the haters to stop slipping, hitting, dipping, and kicking and to not indulge in pacifist thought.

The second verse continues with Mumm-Ra talking about how he takes energy from cool wind and uses it to argue against those who battle for supremacy. He acknowledges that the rules of the game mean that one person can control others and that it's important to remember where one comes from and to hold tools. He talks about refining his elements, using his sharp tip to grind, and planting seeds to reap the harvest. He mentions Flatbush, a neighborhood in Brooklyn known for its diversity, and talks about pushing people over the edge with his passion. He ends with a declaration that he is welcomed to the temple.

I think that’s why they started doing that dance.

“You know, this is getting boring, guys.”
“What do you suggest we do? We’re stuck here.”
“We could take up a hobby.”
“Like what? We never move unless this idiot calls on us to do his transform show thing.”
“Hey, guys, speaking of which. Since we’re talking of “show” and all that. That reminds me of something I was thinking about. A hobby we could maybe take up.”
“What is it?”
“It’s just an idea I’ve been toying with.”
“Let’s hear it. We got nothing better to do.”
“Ok. Here goes....We could start our own dance troupe. The first ever all-statue dancing troupe.👯‍♀️ We could use this guy as an excuse to practice. He does it often enough that we’ll get good in no time. Then we ditch this place and make our own destiny!”
“I’m in.”
“So am I!”
“That’s sounds pretty cool. I say we do it!”

“ANCIENT SPIRITS OF EVIIIIILLL.....!”

This is quite possibly the greatest villain ever written. Without a doubt it is one of the best voice acting performances ever.

His dubbing in Brazil was as genius as the original English one. A classic even unto this day .

It's weird, when I was a kid, I wasn't scared of Mumm Ra. Now, as an adult, I realize how evil this was, as he was summoning and getting his strength from demonic spirits.

@guywithdreads

It’s scary when you realize it’s post apocalyptic earth and Mum ra is the last human.

@BrotherWulfe

@@guywithdreads some form of human I guess
