This piece makes me go through some quite different mental states. From fear, to wonder, to blissfulness. Ulver completely nailed it and to come and think of the music scene they originally came from. Also, kudos to the person who compiled the video. It managed to combine two masterpieces.

Love the song, love the art. Both Ulver and Giger are masters at what they do and I'm a huge fan of both. Both seem pretty disturbed. It takes a weird mind to come up with the music that Ulver comes up with and it takes and equally weird (and maybe even more disturbed) mind to come up with the art that Giger creates.

Ulver is by far one of the greatest band in the world. I can really recommend Head Control System to any Ulverfan out there. Garm on vocals there aswell. Just awesome music.

I would say it's hard to put that album in any category. It's largely unique and hard to keep all the tracks together as a united album that "sounds like this". The brilliant use of ambiance is used thru out but on this particular track it's allowed to breathe to a larger extent. Wonderful album though, well worth giving a listen. As far as listening to the older Ulver records, their black metal stuff, Bergtatt is by far the easiest to get into and also my favourite.

I certainly think that Goya may have had a similar mindset when creating the 'Black Paintings' circa 1819-1823, much as Edvard Munch did through his turbulent childhood and life as a young adult, witnessing cruel and undignified death at first hand. Not everyone can convey the emotions seen in works by all of these artists. Grim and truly morbid stuff but wonderfully thought provoking and candid work by all! Perfect blend of Ulver & Giger!

the picture at 5.24 is the cover of Emerson Lake and Palmer's LP "Brain Salad Surgery". Giger aslo painted the cover to "To Mega Therion" by Celtic Frost. Great artist and great music!

"i respect him to the full. Hes a damn fine artist. One of the best ever" Totally agreed. There is a fine line between madness and genius. Hans Ruedi Giger is a genius with his art but has the visions of a madman. The man may have got a deserved Academy Award for creating Alien but his work is unrivalled and he is surely a legend & one of the greatest artists of our time, alongside Dali, Munch and Picasso.

I like the slow enveloping melodic music, kind of entrancing, and 1:17 and on is where it becomes intense. I like the distant slow and meaty melodies though. Kind of reminds me of a stroll through large dark abandoned theater or museum. The chimes toward the end are a classic as well.

The "crying, crying, crying" part at about 2:55 sounds dramatically different through my car speakers than it does through earphones or good quality speakers. I like it a little bit better in my car stereo because a lower-pitched and more pleasant (in my opinion) layer of the music comes out to the foreground (it's way in the background on good speakers). Just thought everyone might like to know that.

I have the tattoo that is the avatar for this video on my thigh - 6"x12" - it looks exactly like HR's original - shading and all. It was done by a great artist named Mike Geiger who used to live in Jacksonville FL. The subject of the tattoo was HR's wife (or ex) who killed herself. My buddy Mike Geiger did the same thing less than a year ago. Life goes on.
