Endlessly
by Muse

There's a part in me you'll never know
The only thing I'll never show

Hopelessly I'll love you endlessly
Hopelessly I'll give you everything
But I won't give you up
I won't let you down
And I won't leave you falling
If the moment ever comes

It's plain to see it's trying to speak
Cherished dreams forever asleep
Hopelessly I'll love you endlessly
Hopelessly I'll give you everything
But I won't give you up
I won't let you down
And I won't leave you falling
If the moment ever comes

Hopelessly I'll love you endlessly
Hopelessly I'll give you everything
But I won't give you up
I won't let you down
And I won't leave you falling
But the moment never comes

the line "but the moment never comes" is so simple but so devastating. It kills all hope, right on the end of the song. And "never" is an awfully long time...

Arian Azhari

dont you forget about "if" ?

Variesh

I know. Never is awfully long.

It's a shame they never perform this song live. It's one of the most beautiful they got in my opinion.

@MartinInBC Huh, maybe! But, I would think that the fees to use it in the recording would be much higher than anything related to live stage performances, esp considering that a recording would be used over the air (an extended ball of legal/rights wax that is usually baked into the recording cake, so to speak...to mix my smilies lol)

MartinInBC

@Gavin Halm They pay a set amount for the rights to use it in recording (region of $500 I believe), but I suspect there is a separate payment for using it in each live performance. I agree they can probably afford it!

@MartinInBC Interesting thesis (the part about sampling that particular library) but it begs the question: why would there be a rights issue with playing it live but not with the recording of the song in the first place (you know, with all the money coming in from album/single sales)?

MartinInBC

The Muse album Absolution used Spectrasonic's "Symphony of Voices" vocal sample library extensively for the huge choir and synth vocal lead effects in Endlessly, Interlude, Blackout and most of the other non-power-rock songs on the album. I suspect Muse might have some copyright issues playing those songs live.
