Exogenesis: Symphony Part 3
Muse Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Why can't we start it over again
Just let us start it over again
And we'll be good
This time we'll get it, get it right
It's our last chance to forgive ourselves
The lyrics to Muse's song Exogenesis: Symphony Part 3 suggest a sense of regret and a desire for redemption. The first lines express the desire to start all over again, underscored by the repetition of "start it over again." The repeated plea is, in a sense, an effort to capture time and attempt to fix past mistakes. The hope for a fresh start is intensified by the phrase "And we'll be good," underlining a promise to do better in the future.
The phrase "This time we'll get it, get it right" suggests a sense of urgency and determination to correct past errors. The final line, "It's our last chance to forgive ourselves," implies that time is running out, and the only way to move forward is through self-acceptance and self-forgiveness. Overall, the lyrics serve as a reflection on the human experience, reminding us of the constant need for renewal and self-improvement.

Let's start over again
We should begin anew
Why can't we start it over again
What is preventing us from restarting from the beginning?
Just let us start it over again
Allow us the opportunity to start anew
And we'll be good
We will behave appropriately
This time we'll get it, get it right
On this attempt, we'll accomplish our objective flawlessly
It's our last chance to forgive ourselves
This is our ultimate opportunity to pardon ourselves

My "stepdad" or rather, a great friend and my mom's boyfriend for a few years, got cancer just after retirement, and the same year my mom would retire. He died a few weeks ago, a very good and influential person. He got me VIP tickets on several occacions to see live classical music in Oslo, as he could not attend some of them. One of them was with Debussy, it's the most intense listening experience I've ever had.
I already liked classical music, but he was almost fanatic about it, and highly critical of pop.
I just recalled now this as one song I never got the time to play for him, I think he would be impressed.
This song is the only song ever made that I've heard that has given me goosebumps.
Not only that, it gives me goosebumps EVERY time, and not only ONE it's SEVERAL!
This from a guy who already before 18 (2006) had over 2000 songs hand picked and downloaded individually through KaZaA or similar, cause I only add individual songs to my collection....
This song will stick by me until I'm dead.
And I will make sure to share it more wit hthose worthy :)

I played this to my stepdad the day it was released, he said it was the most beautiful piece of music he'd ever heard. Last year we played it at his funeral. I cried for about half an hour and this was the first time I've heard it since. Damn that was hard!
