Exogenesis: Symphony Part II
Muse Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Rise above the crowds
and wade through toxic clouds
Breach the outer sphere
The edge of all our fears
Rest with you
We are counting on you
Its up to you
Spread, our codes to the stars
You must rescue us all
Spread our codes to the stars
You must rescue us all
Tell us, tell us your final wish?
Now we know you can never return

Tell us, tell us your final wish?
We will tell it to the world

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Muse's Exogenesis: Symphony Part 2 hint at a post-apocalyptic scenario where humanity is facing an existential crisis. The singer is tasked with the herculean task of rescuing the entire human race and taking them to safety, as toxic clouds and other dangers loom large. The lyrics suggest that this individual has been entrusted with a critical mission and that much is resting on their shoulders. The repetition of the phrase "Spread our codes to the stars" seems to suggest that humanity's only hope lies in reaching out to other civilizations or perhaps moving to another planet.

The second half of the lyrics takes on a more somber tone as the singer is forced to confront their inevitable demise. The "final wish" that they are asked to reveal could be interpreted as a last testament or legacy that they want to leave behind. The lyrics give the impression that this person is making a sacrifice for the greater good, and that their courage and determination will be remembered long after they are gone. Ultimately, the message of the song seems to be one of hope and perseverance, even in the face of overwhelming odds.
