Black Holes and Revelations (2006) incorporated electronic and pop elements, displayed in singles such as "Supermassive Black Hole", and brought Muse wider international success. The Resistance (2009) and The 2nd Law (2012) explored themes of government oppression and civil uprising and cemented Muse as one of the world's major stadium acts. Rolling Stone stated the band possessed "stadium-crushing songs". Topping the US Billboard 200, their seventh album, Drones (2015), was a concept album about drone warfare and returned to a harder rock sound. Their eighth album, Simulation Theory (2018), prominently featured synthesisers and was influenced by science fiction and the simulation hypothesis. Their ninth album, Will of the People (2022), which combined many genres and themes from their previous albums, was released in August 2022.
Muse have won numerous awards, including two Grammy Awards, two Brit Awards, five MTV Europe Music Awards and eight NME Awards. In 2012 they received the Ivor Novello Award for International Achievement from the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers and Authors. As of June 2016, they have sold over 30 million albums worldwide.

Something Human
Muse Lyrics

I know it's self-imposed
And all I have shared, and all I have loved
Is all I'll ever own
But something has changed
I feel so alive
My life just blew up, I'd give it all up
I'll depressurize
Oh, oh, oh, ten thousand miles left on the road
Oh, oh, oh, five hundred hours 'til I am home
I need something human, human
Human, human
Let's face all our fears
Come out of the shade
Let's burn all the money, absolve all the lies
And wake up unscathed
The big picture's gone
Replaced with visions of you
Now life can begin, I've cleansed all my sins
I'm about to break through
Oh, oh, oh, five thousand miles left on the road
Oh, oh, oh, two hundred hours 'til I am home
I need something human, human
Human, human
And I need the touch
And something human, human
Oh, oh, oh, less than a mile left on the road
Oh, oh, oh, I will be crawling though your door
I need something human, human
Human, human
And I need your love
And something human, human
The song "Something Human" by Muse is a reflection on the human experience and the desire for connection, especially in a world where everything feels fleeting and digital. The opening lines, "My circuits have blown, I know it's self-imposed" suggest a deliberate decision to disconnect from technology and the artificial world it creates. The singer recognizes that what they have shared and loved is all they will ever truly own, suggesting a need for deeper human connection.
The chorus "I need something human, human" is a plea to break through the isolation created by technology and to find something genuine and real. The verse "Let's burn all the money, absolve all the lies" is a rejection of the superficialities of modern life, implying that only through honesty and vulnerability can true connection be found. The bridge, "And I need the touch, and something human" adds a layer of physicality to the need for human connection, emphasizing the importance of real human interaction.
The repeated counting down of miles and hours until the singer is "home" suggests that the ultimate goal is to return to a place of safety and comfort, where they can fully connect with another person.

I'm so dumb!! I realized all these new muse music videos have followed a general narrative
Dig Down - introduced us to this world where AI has taken over and Matt is some kind of propaganda leader
Thought Contagion - Turns out Dig Down was a video game, however in this world there are also werewolves. Note we also see Dom as a cop here. Thought Contagion becomes a videogame and Matt escapes with the Car from Thought Contagion
Something Human - Matt has escaped with the car and is seen watching a tape of Simulation Theory and escapes Dom (the same cop from TC) and turns out Matt is also a werewolf. [Also the Skelton with the Mohawk at the start kinda resembles the purple hair Mohawk guy on the floor near the start of TC however different costumes)
Theory: Matt is dimension hopping in fear of getting turned into a video game and on the run from being a propaganda leader. Or maybe I'm just over analyzing everything :P
Thoughts: I really love this retro-futuristic vibes. Where everything seems to be the future but we have Arcades, Cassettes and Video Tapes. The colors in these music videos are amazing! Reminds me of blade runner 2049. Say what you will about the music but they have been on top of their game with their music videos. I WISH they would release this as a movie like Michael Jackson's Moonwalker. We can only hope

I'm coming here after listening to Muse's interview at Radio X, where they pointed out that the first version of this song was the acoustic one: it took a whole year to them to produce this other version that (according to them) fits better within the album.
Now I am wondering what it feels like, working for one year to make an awesome song simpler, radio-friendlier and more electronic, and then read people saying "OMG this sucks, it's way too jingly and simple! This isn't Muse anymore!"
Calm down you raging fans, listen to this song WITHIN the album, and not as a stand-alone track.
If you still don't like it, the acoustic version waits for you, and please leave alone the people who like this one.
Because it may eventually come out that you have being too quick and rough in your judgement, and not the opposite.

Bellamy on this song:
The song comes from when you do get a bit burnt out from being on the road for too long. The Drones Tour was amazing and weโre very happy with how it went, but at the same time it was quite grueling. Six nights in Paris, five nights in London, the same show โ itโs the first time we did that, an extensive arena tour with multiple nights in multiple cities. And the nature of the album and the show was quite dark in message and tone, and I think that living in that for a long time can actually be quite draining. Portraying a set of songs which are quite dark in tone, and having the visual nature of the show with the drones flying around and what we were putting across with the riot police at the beginning. It had a dark vibe, which is good, but when youโve been doing that for a while that natural result was that as soon as I came off the road, โSomething Humanโ came out, which is a more tender, down-to-earth, simplistic song about what it feels like to be burned out and wanting to get home to a more normal life after being on the road for a couple years.
Give them a break seriously. This song is different, does that make it bad? I don't think so for one
@Julandrius
It's very different from their other stuff but I like that. I'm really looking forward to the album (and I do hope there's a couple harder tracks in there as well :P)
@muhammadnaufalhidayatullah10
Julandrius they said there will be hard rock songs as usual. I also heard next single will sound like 'old' muse.
@Lutgerion
Julandrius Thank you for sharing that, the entire song makes so much sense from that perspective!
@prernag
Julandrius I love this song. I don't understand why it's getting so much hate. All I can think is that that this song is a bit upbeat/different but in essence a very much muse song.
