That the kiss that was meant truly for me is leaving me torn
How could love be so kind and so gentle and turn and be so cold
Why must my arms feel so empty for what my heart still holds
Mary how could you go
Around and hurt me so
I've tried so hard to please you baby
Mary how could you go
Around and hurt me so
I've tried so hard to please you baby
But I just can't seem to baby
Was there something I could've done to change this outcome here
As if I blinked my eyes and suddenly she up and disappeared
How can love escape your grasp without you ever letting go
And until she returns my offer I may never know

The lyrics to Musiq's song "Mary Go Round" are a reflection on the pain of lost love. The first verse expresses confusion and heartbreak over a romantic relationship that seemed secure, but suddenly feels torn apart. The use of the name "Mary" suggests that the song is addressing a specific person or relationship, and creates a sense of familiarity and emotional connection. The chorus repeatedly asks the question of how this painful situation could have happened, and expresses frustration and sadness at the loss.
The second verse continues to explore feelings of loss and regret, as the singer wonders if there was something they could have done differently to prevent the relationship from falling apart. The use of the phrase "up and disappeared" gives a sense of suddenness and unexpectedness to the breakup. The line "And until she returns my offer I may never know" suggests that the singer is still holding out hope for reconciliation.
