Breathing
Muskets Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Let rush
Grow rust until you feel again
Slip out of your shell or you'll never
know- your eyes might find something better there
Flush doubt somehow until you waste away
But you're still breathing

It gets easy with time
Take a hit from the other side when it gets cold
The odds are against you when you wait for grey skies to turn blue
At the back of the line,
where the roof seems so high, a step ahead of you
A constant need for food
Laya around for a while or just add to the pile
It makes no sense to me - just leave when you please
And you're still breathing

You've made mistakes
It never felt real
You turned away and how did that feel good?

Let rush.
Grow rust until you feel again
Slip out of your shell or you'll never
know- your eyes might find something better there
Flush doubt somehow until you waste away
But you're still breathing

Hey, but you're still breathing
Hey, but you're still breathing
Hey, but you're still breathing

You've made mistakes

It never felt real
You turned away and how did that feel good?

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Muskets’ “Breathing” convey a sense of introspection and self-reflection. The opening lines encourage a sense of release and letting go, allowing oneself to feel again despite the rust that may have accumulated over the years. The singer implores the listener to break out of their shell, take risks and explore new possibilities, for fear of missing out on something better. The line “Flush doubt somehow until you waste away” suggests that letting doubt fester will only lead to a life wasted away. Despite this, the final line reassures the listener that no matter what, they are “still breathing”, which is a testament to their resilience and ability to carry on despite adversity.

The following stanza suggests that although it gets easier with time, sometimes we may need to take a hit from the other side to deal with the coldness of reality. The singer acknowledges that waiting around for things to change is futile, and instead, we should take action and proceed to where we see a roof we can reach. The line “A constant need for food” could be interpreted as a metaphor for the things we desire, but that doesn’t necessarily sustain us. The final lines “It makes no sense to me - just leave when you please / And you’re still breathing” reinforce the idea that ultimately, we are the ones in control of our lives and as long as we are alive, we still have the potential to carve our own path.

The chorus is repeated several times throughout the song, emphasizing its significance. The line “You’ve made mistakes / It never felt real / You turned away and how did that feel good?” is a reference to the idea that sometimes, people find solace in their mistakes and deliberately turn away from better possibilities. The singer is questioning this behavior and urging the listener to take a chance and let go of the fear that may be holding them back.

Guns would be effective if utilized properly. Use the special ore to only craft swords in order to keep the resource from running out, and use regular ammunition laced with wisteria poison. Wisteria laced ammo would be amazing for killing weaker demons, and stunning stronger ones.

Really some DMC vibes. Why not have some nichirin rocket launchers or maybe two.
