Not Giving In
Mustard Plug Lyrics

From where I came
At a choice I made
That was one big mistake
Cause in the crowd
I tried to hide
Couldnt keep the pace
So I had to break the stride
can't punch the clock
Can't walk the walk
Abhor the rut
And never stop
Your life is not for me
Every step
That I tried to take
Was a step behind
Lost in the wake
And every truth
It became a lie
One question asked
That question is why?
I'm giving up but I'm not giving in
Ill make the stand
Not to stand in line.
The lyrics of Mustard Plug's song Not Giving In seem to narrate a story of someone reflecting on a decision they made that turned out to be a big mistake. The person in the song experiences a feeling of regret while recalling the situation, as they couldn't keep up with the pace of the crowd they were in and had to break their stride. The lyrics convey a message that conforming to societal expectations can take away one's individuality and make them unable to flourish. The person in the song doesn't want to punch the clock, walk the walk or be stuck in a rut. They realize that the life tethered to these things is not something they want for themselves. Each time they take a step towards something, they feel a step behind, which implies that conformity doesn't lead to any personal growth or development. Ultimately, the person decides to make a stand and not stand in line, which indicates they're ready to break free from their past mistakes and reclaim their individuality.
