My Bubba started out as My Bubba & Mi) (and was then a trio). Their debut album How it's done in Italy was released in 2010.
Goes Abroader, released in 2014, was recorded in LA's Seahorse Sound Studios and House of Blues Studios. The duo worked with Noah Georgeson, who previously produced albums for Joanna Newsom and Devendra Banhart.
2016's Big Bad Good was recorded as the songs were written at Figure 8 Recording, the studio of producer Shahzad Ismaily, in a collaborative attempt to 'capture the unrefined intimacy of a newly written song'. The album was released on the duo's own label Cash Only.
The two girls; My from Sweden and Bubba from Iceland, met by chance in Copenhagen, joined vocals and suitcases and have been traveling together since, singing their contemporary folk songs all around Europe and the United States. Initially they were a band (My Bubba & Mi). My Bubba is the continuation of that band: My and Bubba as a duo.
Their songs are sparse, allowing their delicate voices and entrancing harmonies to take center stage, sharing stories of their adventurous spirit in alluringly sultry sounds.
My Bubba’s second full length album, Goes Abroader, came out in April 2014. It was recorded in California and produced by Noah Georgeson (Devendra Banhart, Joanna Newsom). The songs were written during Scandinavian winter months and dream of warm, exotic places. Each one works as a souvenir or postcard from an imaginary jungle, desert or galaxy, making the record something of a trip around the world.
In 2017 the duo released Gone/You're gonna make me lonesome when you go.
Charm
My Bubba Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
And that can't do you too much harm
I've given up the water, oh
I've given up the water, oh
A woman needs to feel precious
Fallen fruit
To see a suit
To have access to a shed
She loves children
for the feed inside her
She loves children
for they feed inside her
All I'm promising you is my charm
And that can't do you much harm
I've given up the water, oh
I've givent up the water, oh
The lyrics to My Bubba's song Charm suggest that the singer is offering nothing but her charm and that it cannot cause much harm. What she has given up is "the water," which could mean various things like drugs, alcohol, or any addiction that may have caused harm to her or her partner. The song seems to describe a woman's desires in a relationship. She wants to feeling precious, be taken out on dates, feel protected by her partner, and have intimacy. The line "fallen fruit" could be a metaphor for a woman's vulnerability, and the line "to see a suit" could mean that she wants her partner to dress well and treat her well in public. The line "to disappear in bed" could mean that she wants to feel completely immersed in the moment and not worry about anything else, and "to have access to a shed" could mean that she wants a private space where she can unwind and relax.
The last two lines of the song repeat the opening lines, reinforcing the idea that the singer's charm is all she is offering, but it is enough. It is a simple and sweet song that speaks to the simplicity in life and what humans ultimately want - love, intimacy, and connection.

The description of this video (and the video itself) looks like a post from that page "Simpson's pictures that I done and gone". But I still love this song! The whole album is great, by the way. Congratulations!
