The achievements of the group should be, at first, encharged to the first two works of the band. The EP's independently managed an incredible visibility across the Internet.

This visibility has become more apparent through the various appearances of the group's print and audiovisual addition sites and the presence of its music in international web radio stations. Some members of the band made a visit to the United States where it was formed a public that today is responsible for the spread of My Fair Lady’s material overseas.

My Fair Lady aroused the interest of Fernando Quesada, Shaman’s bassist, EM&T's teacher and Ceunsp University's audio coordinator, who invited the group to record and produce their first full-length album at the Fusão VM&T Studios and Headstock Produtora in São Paulo/Brazil, which are two of the largests institutions of music and artistic production in the country.

The album was mastered at the Universal Mastering Studios in New York/United States by Vlado Meller, a leading mastering engineer in the world, whose carries in his resume such names as Frank Sinatra, Aerosmith, Metallica, Lamb of God, Slipknot, System of a Down, Slayer, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Beyoncé and many others.

Formed in 2008 by Sam Alcantara on vocals, Artur Alcantara and Felipe Faco on guitars, Lucas Beam on bass, and Rodrigo End on drums and vocals, the MFL now prepares for the release of their debut-album "Mindwalk" with the forecast for 2011.

People do not want their morality improved because they believe they chose their level of "morality" and that it is optimal for their situation.

"Morality" is viewed as a way that one abides to what are perceived as set rules of personal conduct, which are determined by some undefined rule making entity, which could be a God, nature, science, the law, social environment, etc.
Obviously, if people intentionally break some of those perceived "rules" they WANT to do so.
The only way they would like to be improved is if they felt they broke these rules because of lack of willpower.

The reality is that we are the ones who define it ourselves. Even if two people are raised with the exact same values their interpretation of those values will be different, furthermore they'll priotise those values differently (which is significant, since ultimately our individuality exists in how we prioritise our principals).

Finally there's always a fair chance that people will reject some, or all, of the principals they were raised with. My point being, we always make a decision, and ultimately our specific choice will never be quite the same as anyone around us (no matter the similarity in how we're taught)

Isn't this exactly why people dislike evolutionary psychology? This statement is false...without context. How could you have a fight, if you'd have nothing to fight over? If anything, you could say "Low blood sugar levels can potentially cause the eruption of a fight that has been long coming." The way this discipline approaches the public in general has been utterly disruptive of rational discourse. I'm not against it per se, but I don't see the value either.

I'm a jaded person by social media. So many programs like this are trash, so I've begun to ignore them in my feed.

I've avoided this one for over a week. This is maybe the 3rd or 4th Triggernometry I've watched, and they have all been terrific conversations. I will never "chill out" because that has never been me. But I could try to regain some trust and faith is those people whom make sense.

I'm experiencing this as a first time parent, of a child who is very forceful about getting her own way. I don't mind her getting what she wants but she will have to learn to obey social conventions to get it. I will happily reward polite speech and i won't respond to shouting. Does her polite speech to the next person (with whom there is no established system of rewards) constitute manipulation? I think you could definitely make that argument.

Around the 29 minute mark she starts describing everything I run away from in a woman. Those moody, crazy women who lash out for internal reasons and do stuff to push and test you? GTFO. I would immediately break up with a women who was mean to me before I left on a trip because she wanted to "test" me, consciously or subconsciously it doesn't matter. Beat it, lady.

As ever, a great show. I disagree with one point Dr Fleischman made, however. The second of a very large family I spent my childhood looking after babies, & then was a popular babysitter. I always noticed that babies at a few months old tend to cry fearfully a lot less you if you are standing up with them in your arms rather than sitting. It occurred to me that this could be because helpless infants feel much more secure this way, as you can more easily flee if you are standing than if you are sitting. It's also possible to do other things while bouncing a baby.

As a member of a very large family 3rd from the last of 11, and a mother of 3, I've found the same with babies, they do settle quicker and are much more secure when standing and rocking but I have a theory to put forward as to the why. I work with autistic children and families and one of the senses that babies haven't developed as well at that stage is the vestibular and proprioception, these are knowing where you are in a space and where the things in the space are in relation to you. Autistic people struggle with them too, and one of the main ways of overcoming difficulties with this is engaging in movement very similar to the rocking of babies, ie sitting and bouncing on a gym ball, it gives them a better sense of where they are in the space because they are getting more feedback from all senses. I think the same is true of rocking babies, it gives them a better perception of where they are in a space and that they are secure in that space

Yes, thank goodness someone has brought that up. And why the need to reduce to the utmost the time you spend interacting with your child? It's a great experience, for example, having 'eye-talk' with a baby. Why on earth try to cut it out because it 'takes time'? This woman has obviously not heard of 'The Continuum Concept' or Wilhelm Reich's discovery of muscular armouring, which one can feel physically in really young babies, because their primary need for emotional contact has not been satisfied. I don't suppose she would even acknowledge an infant's need for emotional contact. It is incredible that someone so ignorant is a high-flying academic psychologist.

But the mechanistic brain-washing that western academics undergo is a very powerful influence and may override the intuitive maternal signals, which she has been conditioned to ignore. Almost anywhere you look in public space you can see babies' blatant signals being ignored. When i was working in the UK health service as a midwife and helping new mothers to breast-feed, they would often 'buzz' for help and present me with a situation and then ask, 'What should I do?' My response would be,'What are your maternal instincts telling you to do?' They would look at me in a strange way, as if to say, 'Maternal instincts? What are they? No-one has ever mentioned them before!' And I could see in their eyes something dawning on them. They would come up with an answer and were usually right and knew what to do. But most people, both carers and the mothers themselves never mention maternal instincts or do anything to encourage a mother to respond to them.

trainability (behavioural flexibility) IMO has nothing to do with freewill. We're one of the most flexible species, if not the most. Our brain plasticity is the basis for that and perhaps that was the basis of our expanding all over the globe. So, each individual has a personality, but that could be changed through education, influencing, manipulation etc. Apart from that I came to the same conclusion: Find someone that suits you, not someone that needs to be considerably changed or that requires you to change a lot. Who said that?

If the idealogical left & right have a problem with the research of evolutionary psychology, that maybe due to the fact that ultimately politics is a social adaptation in which opposing idealogical narratives compete for dominance of the social domain. i.e., politics is not specifically about what is true or not true, it's more specifically about winning the social popularity contest ( social status; resources that contribute towards survival & reproduction). And that is why contrary to evolutionary psychology & science in general, politics isn't an evidence based social behavioural psychology.

Any time someone does something that seems entirely stupid, I try to think of how it might have been a survival or reproductive advantage to a paleolithic hunter-gatherer. It certainly helped me understand some of the entirely dishonest and manipulative things I've seen women do and a lot of the stupidly threatening things I've seen men do. I think the behaviors women evolved still work. Being a manipulative liar can really get you ahead in modern society. Not so for men however; being a threatening asshole will just get you a bullet in the head in modern society.

Of course people wouldn't take a pill to improve their morality. Most think their morals are just fine thank you and morals, in and of themselves are entirely subjective. You can make a moral argument for virtually anything which illustrates clearly the malleability of morals as a concept.

Morality is based on virtue ethics. The best lies include as much truth as possible. Which is why arguments for immorality sound like moral arguments. Morality is not subjective, there are right ways of doing things and they can be objectively measured. Like food is objective, and the fact that I need food is objective, how much value I place on food at any one time and the types of food I value are subjective to me. Still doesn't change the fact that objectively food exists and I need it.

I guess to define terms you could say morality is based on virtue, like your preferred taste. Like I have favourite foods and they will be different to yours, but the facts about nutrition don't change. Virtue being like nutrition in this metaphor doesn't change regardless of your taste.

All in all I suppose you are right and morality is subjective, but it's based on virtue which is objective.

@@expressionofwill5307 Great having this discussion with you. One of the great problems with interactions between individuals is that dichotomy that you point out. We all know a virtue is valuable and we assume, quite often, it has the same value with others. But it usually doesn't leading to all sorts of problems. Honesty is great example, I assume both yourself and I agree that being honest is a good thing. However I may be dishonest with you on a subject because, for example if I was honest I would expose some weakness about myself and hence I am not honest. You assume I am honest and operate from that premise leading to undoubted issues at a later date. Time, circumstance, the interaction between virtues and many other factors in combination effect the value we place on a virtue at any given point and hence the malleability.

I think there is usually one virtue that appeals to people more than the others, although it's a bit difficult to identify because they usually interact (for example honesty is a product of justice but can only be acted out if you have fortitude). It's much easier to look at others than yourself, so if you notice what you hate most about other people's actions, you can isolate what virtue you hold highest. Then you'll can realise how much you don't live up to it and all the lies you have been telling about yourself to keep a persona in tact and as a consequence how much forgiveness you owe other people who may hold different virtues in higher regard. That's how it worked out for me at least, it's good to know where your blind spots are because there are different kinds of virtue and if you focus on one then you miss the value of other people.

We did not "evolve to manipulate." Did we evolve to murder and rape also? You must distinguish between what we have the potential to do and what we ought to do. Just because I can manipulate someone, or overpower a woman and rape her does not mean that It is in my self-interest to do so. As humans we know that we can speak falsehoods to people who may be unable - at least at that particular instance - to decern the truth, but that doesn't mean that we ought to lie to them. @Blake839 true, people generalize all the time, I didn't say people are all the same. But I think it's true that the most of the people think that they are acting more moral that the others. They don't see the selfishness of their choices, because they are mostly chosen subconsciously. So instead of lecturing about becoming a better person by changing our perception, we should focus on knowing our own intentions and stop messing with each other's minds.

I think most politicians resist following rigidly science because it means they would not be able to set the agenda. Politicians like to set the agenda to whats going to win votes and yet be relatively easy to deliver (or if they fail no one will be able to punish them for it, eg hard to measure goals). So if the party relies heavily on a set of principles to win votes they wont appreciate any evidence that those principles dont work.

What kind of morality do you think has to be improved? And how do you know whether this kind of morality is to be favoured? After all, where do your standards come from, and why should they be universal? Or are they in fact universal? And why so? These questioons are not scientific ones. Great guest! Evo/psych and sex differences are HUGE topics that are badly misunderstood.

That said, I take issue with her defense of evo/psych. She says her field is wrongly perceived by some as "reactionary." That's one of those trendy pejoratives that no one can really nail down with a strict definition. It seems to me like she's just signalling her left wing bona fides. ("we're not a conservative field!") But of course, whether a field is or is not "reactionary" is irrelevant to its scientific merit. Who cares if the scientists are left wing partisans?

And she goes on to concede that some evo/psych are bad apples (the guy who studied T levels in black women), but again: so what? Every field has bad apples. That's assumed. Especially fields like gender studies; those apples are rotten to the core. So instead of calling out the bad apples in evo/psych, why not call out the double standard? (Evo/psych's bad apples are treated as exemplars of the field, whereas in gender studies the festering, putrid rot is entirely ignored). Don't concede, don't apologize, don't defend; attack!

Telling us that your field isn't problematic because the people doing the allegedly problematic research are left wing just isn't a winning argument. Leftists don't care; to them, if it's problematic it must be censored. And anyone on the right won't care, either; to them, academe is already a lost cause. She needs to defend her field solely on its scientific merits, rather than worrying about partisan optics.

Why do you define this as a "bad apple" the study in and of itself is not bad, he certainly put his foot in it with his pronouncement, but that doesn't eve mean it's wrong, if black women are considered less attractive, and that's what the data shows, there has to be a reason, more masculine features could be it.

Triggernometry I have to disagree that it’s ALL channels but political/social commentary type channels like yours that have opinions from all spectrums I feel attract the most. My point was that there doesn’t seem to be a balance from both sides in the comment section. I wonder whether more neutral voices are put off by the vitriol they receive from the bottom feeder commenters or whether they avoid your channel all together because of the vibe they get from the comment section as to the type of person that makes up your audience. I suppose the argument may be that this isn’t the place for a measured discussion but of it doesn’t start here where does it, if we don’t promote discussion in an open and respectful way then what’s the point? You put so much effort into your content it seems a waste to allow the comments to become a refuge for racists, homophobes, women-haters and transphobes.

Gift example punishment vs reward motivation isn't accurate. Even when you search for a gift to make somebody happy (ie not because you will be punished for not getting them a gift), you are still motivated by the avoidance of punishment (that punishment being the internal bad feelings of knowing you made them upset by not getting them a gift). Life is never all punishment or all reward motivation, it's a combo of both.
