Kooler Than Jesus
My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Kooler than Jesus?
"I don't believe you're listening"
Kooler than Jesus?
"Hey! We gonna jump up and we go crazy a little for you all"
Kooler than Jesus?
"I was raised in Mississippi"
"I am the electric messiah, the AC/DC god!"
Kooler than Jesus?
"You know darn well that they're just manipulating you and that's all"
"That they're doing..."
"Alright, alright, alright everything!"
Come on baby you can do it
Isn't that nice?
Kooler than Jesus?
Kooler than... God.
"I don't believe you're listening"
"Alright now look at me. I said look at me, don't turn your face away"
"I'm the looking glass you created to see yourself in!"
Kooler than Jesus?
"Have you taken leave of your senses?"
"Satan!"
"Don't listen to them"

"Somebody's lying and it's not me."
"You're twisting my words!"

Overall Meaning

The song "Kooler Than Jesus" by My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult is a satirical criticism of the idea of religious fanaticism and the power that religious leaders hold over the general public. The opening lines of the song, "Kooler than Jesus? I don't believe you're listening," suggest that the singer is questioning why people would put so much trust and faith in a higher power when they aren't even sure if anyone is truly listening to their prayers.

The song also references the singer's background, stating "I was raised in Mississippi." This line could be a reference to the Bible Belt and the strong religious influence of the South. The singer then declares himself "the electric messiah, the AC/DC god," which is a parody of the concept of Jesus being the savior of the world.

The chorus repeats the phrase "Kooler than Jesus?" multiple times, asking the listener to question their own beliefs and the power that religion holds over them. The singer then accuses religious leaders of manipulating people and twisting their words for their own gain. The song closes with the explicit assertion that the singer is "kooler than God," further emphasizing the irreverent tone of the song.

This group is a prime example of people who played by their own rules and never sold out! Of course where I live (Frankfort, KY--the armpit of the world), NO ONE else that I know of has ever heard of them!! They have been rocking for years. I'm now 68 and still listen to them!
