Long Gone
My Superhero Lyrics

Very far so far now
Right now you'd like to think
About a drink but you've already drown
Shall we just say bye at the gate
Right now you're life's like a couch
Inside a house where no one wants to be
Right now you've sorted it out
You could turn it up but you won't hear
You didn't want to hear
Go ahead and think about
How it might be without no sympathy
Go ahead and worry about
How she might be when she figures out
About it you can't even step one foot
Out of those shoes ankle deep in shit
And when you finally sink a little more
You'll be there for her and you'll finally hit the floor
In My Superhero's song "Long Gone," the lyrics depict a person who is in deep trouble and spiraling out of control. The singer is aware of their situation, but seemingly unable to do anything about it. The opening lines suggest that the person has crossed a line, and their situation is dire. The following lines suggest that the person is trying to soothe themselves with a drink, but they are already so immersed in their troubles that they can't even enjoy the relief it might bring.
The song goes on to describe how the person's life is now like a couch inside a house where no one wants to be. They have sorted out their problems beyond a doubt, but the question is who wants to see it? This suggests that the person is ashamed of their circumstances and is not looking for answers or help. The line, "you could turn it up but you won't hear, you didn't want to hear," suggests that the person is not open to listening to advice from others, even if it might help them.
The lyrics then talk about how the person should not worry about themselves, but rather about how their partner or loved ones will be affected when they figure out what's going on. The final lines suggest that the person is so deep in their troubles that they cannot even take a step out of their shoes, which are now covered in metaphorical "shit." The person will eventually "sink a little more" until they hit rock bottom and are there for their partner, who they seem to be concerned about.
Overall, the lyrics of "Long Gone" depict the struggles of a person who is in a very bad place and unable to seek help or change their situation. The imagery used throughout the song underscores the depth of despair and hopelessness that the person is experiencing.
