Amanita Muscaria grows near our home...we make tea with it or eat the dried mushrooms. They are not the same as psilocybin - they provide a completely different experience altogether. Both are great, but demand respect.

Amanita also gives a very warm sensation to your body, which is nice on cold days like today (its below zero here in Wisconsin). I've been thinking of making tea all day - now that I see this video, my decision has been made. :)

Really catchy topic, but this mushroom isn't psychedelic and hallucinogenic. psylocibin mushrooms are. Amenitas are psychoactive daw but they act as a gaba agonist. Their effects are closer to alcochol and benzodiazepines like Xanax, then to psychedelics like lsd. Sory for ruining your Christmas clickbait. Happy holidays 😀

In Germany, after the war, when food was really scarce, people would collect the fly agaric (animita muscaria) mushrooms and boil them multiple times to be able to consume them as food, without any effects.

I build the floors of modern 'Yurts' but they are built on the same principle. I've seen Yurts in Yakutsk Siberia and Kazacsthan. They (Are) entered through the 'chimney'. All's you do is move the fire over and in you go. Pretty simple. And it is true for nomads do not know how high snow will rise, so this idea evolved...

I supposedly live in the Bible belt as far as St Louis Missouri and I think this is a crazy genius wild theory. As a mycologist, with experience with Amanita muscaria, there are so many outright falsehoods in this theory that idk where to even begin. I'm also an anthropologist and ethnobotanist and also almost entirely wrong from those schools of thought as well.

I would say this makes a lot of sense because Im from finland. Before finland became christian country "joulu" was celebraded around 25th of december. It was a part of native peoples religion which died after people forced christianity to finnish people. People agreed to it and added christmas church to their joulu, but kept some old habits like visiting graves which kinda has nothing to do with christmas. And those mushrooms are everywhere, i think i should try those at summer even though adults teaches to little kids that especially those mushrooms are very dangerous!

If the largest part of the tradition was consuming mushrooms then why in current Christmas celebrations do people do not have psychedelic trips or at the very least have a traditional mushroom dish or anything to do with an actual mushroom. @Alexander Supertramp Thanks for asking, animals have been traced back to fungi for a couple of decades at least, several peer reviewed papers and research have confirmed that we share a common ancestor. A simple google search should reveal enough scientific evidence for those seeking validation within that body of work.

And sure, I didn’t mean they were the first thing to ever evolve, quite honestly I’m not sure anybody knows that answer for sure, and anyone claiming it is by default not a science oriented person. I meant it in the context of animal evolution to denote that they have been here before any of them.

Animals tracing their ancestry to fungi is a scientific fact, not pseudoscience. I am sorry if this made you feel uncomfortable as it challenged your convictions, but remember that we all grow from facing them.

Aight I don’t know why this popped in my suggested videos but this very morning I went out in the Aussie beach near my home tripping balls on psilocybin mushrooms while listening to tool and I’ve had the most intense extra dimensional experience I’ve ever had, I could feel my chest rapidly heating up as I was ascending into another reality. The Red Fly Agaric, or Muscimol specifically is more of an inebriant than it is a hallucinogen. Also, the reindeer also drank the urine of inebriated people, reindeer would often attack people just to get at that sweet Muscimol.

They are legal and ylu can buy em online or at head shops. I dont recomend then though specially if you want psychedeloc mushrooms.

This isnt the story ive been taught. Ive heard that the ornaments we hang come from pagans putting them on Yule trees to represent the stars, moon and sun. The presents are gifts or offerings to the gods and goddesses. Other traditions like the lights on the trees come from putting tea lights on the branches. Most of what I've heard comes from pagan traditions being reused by christians to make the transition from pagan to christian easier. Most people already know a lot of christian holidays have very pagan origins and christmas is one of them. Theres evidence christ was born in spring but they moved it to the winter solstice (probably to replace Yule and make it christmas).

They are very common under blueberries. They don't dry the mushrooms to reduce the toxicity. It is done to CREATE it as the active chemical needs to .. let's say "age" through a phosphate/oxygen action. This can also be achieved by warming the shrooms on low heat in your oven. This same chemical can be used as a taste enhancer (muscimol), just ask the Japanese. The chances of seeing flying reindeer are pretty slim. Muscimol isn't actually classified as a hallucinagen but rather a delierient. It is absolutely NOTHING like psilocyben. The effect of taking this drug is more like a trippy opiate experience. I do not recommend the pursuit of this mushroom for the average person. It will open doors in your dream world. In the waking world you will probably get sick and vomit up the shrooms and end up with a headache. Potency varies widely. You've been warned.

Pretty sure the guy didn’t think about mushrooms as he was writing it.

I've tried this and amenita Pantherina which is even stronger but they just made me feel sort of sick in an unpleasant way.
I've tried them several times and doses and got the same results. I don't know how these mushrooms ever got labeled as hallucinogenic.

Main problem is that mushroom doesn't have the psychedelic properties that would create any significant difference.

I have another theory that for some odd reason nobody has ever though about, so, i think Santa is a ghost, lemme explain, Santa lived way back even before Christ was born, and a human being cannot live for over 2000 years, so, saint Nicholas could have died long ago and became a ghost carrying the tradition of giving gifts to people, but saint Nicholas used to just put coins to the doorstep of people, so the tradition might have evolved slowly into toys, and him being a ghost also kind of explains how he gives presents so fast, because he is a ghost, he might be able to teleport to other houses and make gifts appear.

Rudolph had a red nose. It's a reference to drinking. This "tradition" doesn't go back far. The story was written as a promotion for Montgomery Wards in 1939, the song was written in 1949. Highly doubtful this has anything to do with mushrooms.
