Complaints are valuable to the individual but not valuable if no action is taken.. Make no mistake Charlotte is an old SOUTHERN CITY growing into 21st century international financial hub..

Families who have been here for generations have a hard time adjusting to the new reality of this city.. The change is even more difficult if your only reality is a low wage job and second class citizenship..

ALL communities resist change.. from Fresno to Nebraska to Charlotte.. the question is whether those long generational residents can take advantage of the little bit of space that opens up and make the community stronger..

It's tough for long term African American Charlotte residents.. they carved out a niche.. got comfortable and now immigrants fast moving northerners, developers, and 21st century millennials seem like they're trying to step right over them..

The city needs to do better to communicate what is going on and include these loyal residents in the long term planning..

Everyone is not an entrepreneur but everyone can benefit from the entrepreneurs who see opportunity in Charlotte..

There should be a partnership between the New and the old so that Charlotte can create its own Harlem Renaissance or Memphis pre-1968..

Hard work and communication.. simple as that

My thing is where is this promised land for So-Called Black Folk in America?

I mean I'm working in North Carolina but my home is in Houston

So I hear about and see people moving to The South from the Northeast, Midwest and California

But there is traffic and racism everywhere in this country

But I guess what I do like about The Southern States is as long as you have right amount of money and a somewhat entrepreneur spirit about you, you can get in where you fit in

Where as up North and out West it's expensive and crazy more competitive (rat race)

But I will say I enjoyed working in Boston and California is a great place for me to work/visit (but I ain't trying to move there)

we have a night life Sunday-Sunday (7 days )
We are right across the street from Canada 🇨🇦
We have the big 3
We also have a lot of black people here so the YT people here don’t really try that racist mess, they know Detroit don’t play dat shyt

A handful of schools are still good within the city ( Chrysler elementary,Renaissance, King high schools) Plenty of schools outside the city that are reasonable for our children. Private schools are affordable, and plentiful. Job are plentiful and increasing. Sales Taxes are 6% NO tax of groceries in Michigan
Summers in Detroit are nice as heck and fun as heck. Plenty of things to always do.
You can buy alcohol everyday of the week including Sunday.
We sometimes have bad snow storms though😮‍💨

California - LA has the WORST homelessness I've ever seen (I'm from San Diego), Overpriced cost of living, nice beaches and weather (Just in San Diego tho)

Dallas - Worst Traffic/Aggressive Drivers (3 not-at-fault accidents in ONE year), Cost of living (good job market though)

NY/NJ - Overpriced for a matchbox apartment, commute from HELL, Rats

Chicago - Crime and FREEZING during the winter months

Atlanta - Over crowded and good luck finding quality friendships/relationships

Florida - NO black person should be living here as of late

I just moved to Charlotte and I've lived in all the places mentioned above and to be honest I love it here. I still get that southern/small city vibe here and it feels great tbh. Traffic hasn't been bad for me at all(considering I don't drive during rush-hour if I don't have to)/Plenty of places to eat/TREES(fresh air) everywhere/People are friendly(even at Walmart)/Lots of Black People(love Love LOVE). Honorable mention - Downtown isn't all trashy like all of the cities mentioned above. Fcking ground zero(except my hometown San Diego).

Just moved to Charlotte area 2 years ago. I've been renting til I get familiar with the area. My rent has gone up $150 a month each year. Homes have gone up almost $100,000 in 18 months. A 3 bedroom 2 ba, 1700 sq/ft in a development was 200k and now 300k. The average income in the area has not gone up. The area is becoming unaffordable for working class people.

Charlotte is losing it's Southern Charm and slowly becoming more like Philly and NYC. I don't understand why people come here and want to change the environment. It's just crazy round here anymore, nobody has patience, everybody is honking their horns in a rush, passing on the shoulder, screaming and yelling. It's a big hustle where nobody is genuine and actually cares. It's sad what has happened in such a short time. I'm thinking about moving again before I get caught up in a trap.

It's not capitalism that makes it worse. Your elected officials are selling off the area to corporations for tax revenue bringing in more jobs that most natives aren't educated for. When corporations express interest in a regional HQ, elected officials create bidding packages to attract corporations. These corporations then hire out of staters relocating who buy brand new homes for half a million driving up home values for a growing area and now a single wide trailer is worth over 100k. Supply and demand set in motion by local elected officials. Your vote matters more than you know.

These are natural problems anywhere in the country. Southerners had to leave in order for Harlem and Bed-Stuy to grow. Now those people are moving back. People leave other countries for big cities as well. At least you have more people moving to Charlotte than homeless. In NYC the homeless on the subway outnumber the commuters. There will be homeless due to mental health issues and economic issues.

I moved here a few years ago and love it. I didn't move directly into Charlotte city limits but still live only 18 minutes from uptown. I prefer the smaller towns/cities in the Charlotte Metro, because you can live in a more laid back atmosphere but still take advantage of everything Charlotte has to offer. I wish you success on where ever you decide to move to.

Bro, your videos are spot on! I am a native Charlottean, and I left here four years ago and moved to VA Beach, because I wanted the beach life, and I ended up moving back to Charlotte in 2021, because I wanted to be back in the city, WORST MISTAKE EVER! Charlotte is still an amazing place, but it's like the soul has been sucked out of the city. No more EPICENTER(which I could care less about), no more CIAA, and MOST IMPORTANTLY, Charlotte is one of the fastest growing cities in the country, and NONE of the local HBCU's have any skilled trade programs. In VA (the 757) almost all of the young black men go to the local HBCU'S and get skilled trades, here you can't really do that. Now, there is really nothing to draw black people here, especially since housing prices are continuing to increase drastically. The majority of people who are moving here now are white people, and if you drive downtown on any day it shows. I love my hometown of Charlotte, but the HYPE is gone. I'm definitely looking at either Nashville TN, or Houston TX, lower or similar cost of living and way more culture.

yeah I’m white so I can’t speak on it much but from my own experience living around the carolinas, greensboro NC is a place with great schools for young black people (UNCG, A&T) very affordable, UNCG isn’t a HBCU but it has a good amount of black students. UNC Charlotte isn’t a black school at all and the tuition rates are INSANE just cuz of it being in clt. Unfortunately tho greensboro & the piedmont area don’t have many job opportunities sprouting up
and yeah I’m definitely with you on the culture stuff charlotte has had all the culture and charm sucked out of it. it’s like if a group of aliens tried to make a simulation of a city based on what they’ve seen in movies

Raleigh is definitely growing but, it’s not as built up as Charlotte. The traffic in Raleigh seems worse than Charlotte! Everything Raleigh is outdated well what I’ve seen. I like the feel of Charlotte I’m from up north. Charlotte to me gives just enough city vibes while Raleigh to me felt extremely country and boring. All I saw was tuns of construction, grass, dirt and trees! I do hear good things about Raleigh though. Charlotte is definitely not the best place but, I do like it here.

I just moved to Charlotte from the DMV, parts of me actually chose Charlotte based on videos like this including some of your old videos. So far I absolutely love it. I don't see the crime or traffic y'all talking about, but I'm coming living in the DMV for the last 30 years. I was robbed several times and encountered MANY strangers ready to kill me for no reason on a REGULAR basis. Waking up to no tires or your car being broken into all while living in a "luxury complex" paying $1800 for a one bedroom and still being faced with crime every day. Charlotte has been my saving grace!! It's nothing like that here! & Traffic in the DMV will make you consider ending it all. It would take me an hour+ (sometimes 2 hours if there's an accident) to get to my job which should have been a 20 min drive. I haven't been in traffic here for longer than 5-10 minutes yet. So maybe I just came from hell but I am loving Charlotte!! 😂

Housing cost have gone up in all the major US cities including Charlotte. As far as traffic I havent noticed any major issues as compared to previous years but what I have noticed is stores and businesses opening later and closing earlier which adds to a higher concentration of people flooding our roadways during business hours and then when nightfall hits its like a ghost town LOL

I see Charlotte as a city to where you can have a stay cation if you live outside the city limits. Theirs alot of planned projects starting in 2022. A new extention to Steele Creek is called the River District, West Blvd from the airport towards uptown is being redevelopment. Ballantyne is being redevelopment, Waxhaw is growing like crazy. To put it in perspective, Charlotte has begun another boom, from being the #2 financial hub and now taking the #1 financial hub spot, it will be reported during 2nd quarter of 2022. If you don't know anything about stock market, stock options, or Crypto investing Please Please learn. Living on the outer towns and counties of charlotte is DEFINITELY the move. It's the people of charlotte that ruins it for me. No one can blame it on northerners and mid westerners, I be in those areas on the REGULAR, much better quality of people. Also the lack of drive, urgency, from the people here, also the lack of programs or people with knowledge willing to help and assist you.(This is outside of asking for public assistance, so don't think that's what I'm talking about) They read as help is available on paper and the internet, try to use it and see if that's true.

I moved to Charlotte about 9 years ago from the NC mountains. The city is drastically different, more congested and much more expensive to live in. Forget about buying a home in Mecklenburg county if you make less than 6 figures. I live next door in Union County and it’s getting pricy too.

All the out of town money has flooded the market (a lot of NY and California) and is pushing out all the locals. Charlotte is on my radar as the next place but that has also gotten expensive...

What part of Atlanta are you talking about? They are paying NYC pay rates and salary’s in ATL now. There are plenty of jobs! Yes, it’s expensive, however, that’s with most major cities. There is plenty of opportunity in ATL. There’s good and bad.

I lived in Charlotte in the 90s and yes it was totally different but too small for my taste back then.

Every city changes over 3 to 5 years. It isn't always for the better. Find a place that is conducive to your lifestyle, and research what it will take to put down roots and go for it.

If you are looking for a place with less traffic with a thriving economy you may want to go to the Midwest. Kansas City, Indianapolis, Columbus or Minneapolis. Those are cities that are well established and Minneapolis is more advanced than Charlotte. There are many great places throughout the country, don't limit yourself to the south.

I can attest to that bro you on point. I was born and raised in Charlotte now I live on the outskirts in Gastonia Belmont area. Most of my family does also even though we own two houses in Charlotte is way more profitable to just rent them out we bought the two houses for no more than 100 thousand a piece and now both of them rent out for 1200 a month

True about traffic.. the natives just use the streets to cut in and out of areas of Charlotte.. 277 , HWY 74 & 16( brookshire blvd). That light rail is 🗑 way too many bars. Your right the Charlotte I grew up in, is gone

Charlottes high rent prices, traffic, and an influx of new folk is REAL!!. I've been in QC since 1999. I see newness every single day. I'm always saying, "Where did that building come from?" Lol
When I moved here, a one bedroom apartment in a nice side of town was between $600 to $750 monthly, but currently a one bedroom on a sketchy side of town starts at $800. Charlotte is turning into a "Gotta get a roommate" town for young folk.
If you want new new, move to Charlotte. The infrastructure building is on the up and up.

I feel like most of NC is not "NC" anymore. It's very heartbreaking because that was my retirement state. The Triangle is definitely already congested but people want to be in these cities where all of the action is. That used to be NYC, DC, Atlanta, and Miami. Now it's states TX, AZ, NC, and still FL.

I've always enjoyed visiting Charlotte. South Park was my chosen section. I will continue to visit but moving there sounds like I may have missed my chance.

I bought a home in Charlotte 2009 moved to FL 2018 only because it started to get too COLD (reason why I left the north). I enjoyed living in Charlotte. When I was there, it was a real example of Southern Hospitality. It's growing everywhere and cannot be avoided. Your video made me sad. Good luck on your next adventure!

I totally I agree I Moved from Miami FLbecause it was so dangerous and crowded but as being here for the last 4 years it has drastically changed.There are Jobs and homes everywhere but it just is so different now.I noticed about The Lanes lessing in the hood near Clanton.Whats up with that?.But definitely thinking about relocating somewhere similar because I really do Love Charlotte. I moved to Charlotte from NYC last year and trust and believe the traffic is way worser out there then out here. The cost of living is most definitely not livable in NYC and that’s why a lot of us are relocating to states where you can live comfortably. I actually really like it out here but you’re correct though the traffic on 77 can be a mess but that ain’t nothing compared to traffic in NYC. I also like the description you’ve gave about the club and compared to to Charlotte. Love that analogy.

I feel for y'all. I came to visit Charlotte almost 35 yrs ago when I was nine years old and it was then, the type of city I'm looking into moving to now. A quick Google search and I was like Hell No. I ain't tryna pay NYC prices to rent (even though you get far more house for your money). I knew it had to be over crowded when I counted 10🖐🏽🖐🏽 Marriott Residence Inn hotels alone. I'm considering middle GA now.

I left CLT in 2022. The traffic is bonkers now. I still work in CLT but I work a hybrid schedule so I don’t have to commute everyday. And I moved to SC. It’s very chill out here. No crazy traffic, almost no crime, and super affordable.

100% agree! Now, it’s like every cookie cutter area. The attitude-atmosphere is completely different. It’s almost like an air of entitlement from those who transition to the city. I don’t even see diversity like it was pre pandemic. The homeless problem is bad- it’s homeless ppl everywhere and it wasn’t like that a couple years ago. Crime is also increasing as well.

Funny you mentioned Garner, which is where I've been living for over 17 years now. Construction has exploded here, incl. the ongoing road construction, over the past few years. Cost of living is also increasing here, & w/all the new construction, it's getting too claustrophobic now...even our poor wildlife is getting squeezed out. I myself have been looking into moving back to Johnston Co., as I lived there for about 3-4 years. I just want someplace quiet, where I can't see my closest neighbour, lol. My parents (now just my stepdad) lives in Suwanee, GA, & when I lived in Raleigh, I would take 85 all the way down, & I'd wave to Charlotte as I passed! Thanks for the video.

I moved here 3 years ago from Cleveland area and I’m done with NC. It was fine when I first got here but the cost of living is out of control and this state has lost its appeal to me in other sectors and culture. I have went back to CLE for a couple months and it was so hard to transition back that I came straight back to NC. While I'm not a native Charlottean, I am native to the area. Born and raised in Shelby. Have been back in Charlotte for 20 years. This is my second go round in Charlotte. Previously lived here in the 80s. Will be retiring in a couple of years after which my plan is to move back to the hometown. Growing up, Charlotte was the big city and I loved all that Charlotte had to offer. These days, I feel like the things that I always loved about Charlotte, no longer exist. With retirement on the horizon I honestly feel like I can no longer afford to live in Charlotte. Traffic in Charlotte has been a problems since the 80s and it gets worse with each passing year. While Shelby has it's own set of issues, I still think I would rather be there than in Charlotte during the latter years of my life.

I travel Albermarle, to Independence to Brookshire and straight to I77 South. anyhow, interesting video, As for Charlotte changing, Try 47 years being from here . I'm seriously thinking renting my condo and moving to ST Louis (wives family there and I like the city). Charlotte I grew up in died around the late 80s when all the transplants (there were a "few" good ones) moved down. Number one reason then was, I wanna move to where life is like Mayberry.

I-77 ends in Columbia, SC… Charlotte approved the silver line which will go from Indian trail cut through downtown and the airport and end in Gastonia.. Also Rockhill approved a light rail from the Panthers practice stadium to Mathews. You need to do your research.. if you leave Charlotte before purchasing property your crazy. Everything your complaining about exit is every big city.. sound like you need to move to the country

Spot on video. It's over for Charlotte. Seems to be getting worse everyday. Overcrowded, terribly rude people moving here. It was such a laid back city. It's an unbearable place to live. I have issues with people in public or the interstate every day. I'm ready to bail on the place I've lived for 36 years.

@@Meech_3 I say go to Houston or Dallas, Charlotte is not it I went back to Charlotte for NYE and it was crazy people are so rude and let’s not talk about the traffic it’s getting bad In Greenville Sc also a lot of people from up north are moving down here.

There is no perfect🌇🏙️🌆🌁 city. I live in a major NE 🌇city. I'm not gonna complain because it can be worse! I have to agree with you, most large southern urban areas need mass🚉🚊transit, re: ATL, CLT, RDU to alleviate the traffic🛣️problem. That's why I live where I live, mass🚇transit‼️‼️‼️

Bro I live in charlotte the transportation system type decent. The light rail goes from s. Blvd all the was to uncc that’s literally south to north lol. 77 is trash though

That train is trash too. A train that basically goes back and forth, nothing else. It's better than nothing I agree, but it's almost as nothing. It hasn't taken NO traffic off these antiquated a*S roads and highways as designed to do. This city is OVER 30 years behind in transportation alone. Rail and major Highway wise.
