This cut is very reminiscent of Ohio Players "Heaven Must be Like This" off of Skin Tight album. I remember buying this album way back in the day based solely on seeing Donald Byrd's name on the sleeve, and having been a big fan of the Blackbyrds - City Life, Unfinished Business and Action
