BURNING UP
NE‐YO Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Burn, burnin up, I got er, got er burnin up
Burn, burnin up, I got er, got er burnin up
Burn, burnin up, I got er burnin up

Just one look in your direction, we made a connection
Not a connection we once had, you and me somewhere sweatin'
You look like a lotta, trouble but I gotta
See what kind of trouble you are

With that big bass a boomin', lights low and assumin'
You see bodies movin', but you do see what they doin
Gotta make my way over, as I'm getting closer
I can feel the heat, coming off you as I approach ya

Baby I... can't... decide... if I live... or die
But I... know... tonight I want that fire in your eyes
Girl I... can't... decide... if I live... or die
But I... know... tonight I want that fire in your eyes

And I'm caught in seduction, from introduction
Taking shots of that red, takin' that burn like it's nothin'
Body made for sinning, accustomed to winnin'
I know she might be the death of me (right from the beginning)

But I don't care (don't care)
Let me tell you, baby, I ain't never scared
So where you goin' I wanna be there
Really wanna get to know ya, And I can feel the heat, coming off you as you come closer

Baby I... can't... decide... if I live... or die
But I... know... tonight I want that fire in your eyes
Girl I... can't... decide... if I live... or die
But I... know... tonight I want that fire in your eyes

I wanna put your fire with my smooth
Said I wanna put your heat with my cool
I don't know what to do with me and you
I don't know what to do with me and you

Burn burnin' up... got her got her burnin' up (got her burnin' up... hey)
Burn burnin' up... got her got her burnin' up (got her burnin' up... ohh)
Burn burnin' up... got her got her burnin' up (said I got her burnin' up. hey)
Burn burnin' up... got her got her burnin' up (OH)

Baby I... can't... decide... if I live... or die
But I... know... tonight I want that fire in your eyes
Girl I... can't... decide... if I live... or die
I... can't... decide... if I live... or die
But I... know... tonight I want that fire in your eyes

I... can't... decide... if I live... or die
But I... know... tonight I want that fire in your eyes

What happened to this song, can’t find it on Spotify. Why’d they discontinue Malibu red!?

Patrik Adolfsson

@Rudy Diaz The music video was a collab of some sorts with the makers of Malibu Red beverage. To me it seems like an ultimatum that was purely from a business view.
The deal didn't go as planned and the price he had to pay probably was if Malibu Red didn't want to associate the drink with him - they have the rights to decide if the song should be promoted.
In the aftermath the song didn't age well, not for the composition and writing, but what came along with it, an alcoholic beverage. In some countries it's not legal to advertise or "hype" the viewer to drink.

@Patrik Adolfsson what do you mean?
