Ok so the song made me tear up, then the comments actually got me crying. To all of you talking about the parents or family you’ve lost to addiction, I’m sorry for your loss, which I’m sure you’re tired of hearing. None of what you were put through is your fault and none of what they put themselves through is a true reflection on them as people, my sister was addicted for a while to some hard things and luckily she’s now turning a corner which makes me incredibly happy cause I was the only one in my family to believe in her. Sometimes people just can’t beat the battles they’re facing because they don’t even recognize they’re in a battle to begin with.

Also, other comments that made me cry more were some parents in here saying they have cleaned themselves up after listening to his music and holyyyy. I’m so proud of each and every one of you. Battles never over so just keep in your heart that nothing you can take can ever heal the pain you may be facing, only going through the pain and facing it head on will get you through. You can’t heal yourself if you’re numbing yourself, just remember that.

My mother died from drinking and driving when I was 10. Abused as a child she grew up with tears. When she died I was left to the demise of my abusive father. Abused as a child grew to an addicted adult. I am now a little over a year in recovery. Thank you for this song. Thank you for your music. Your songs have helped save my life more times than once. NF is making peace with his mother in the spirit world, and choosing forgiveness, notice that his forgiveness is not just a, I forgive you, it’s a “Pray to God that you found joy” and a “did he show you some grace” “do you smile more” “do you feel at peace yet” “do you laugh more”. He then goes on to empathize with her situation. Say what you want y’all about him not being a Christian rapper, but he has the true HEART of a Christian, he admits his own faults, forgives, shows great faith, and true love to one who caused him great pain. Nf, I lost my mom to suicide when I was 11 I tried helping her through everything I could. It broke me and it’s still breaking me without her and your music especially “how could you leave us” and this have helped me start healing I am almost 18 now but I’ve ignored it for so so long. I listened to this song for the first time today and I had to bite back tears in school and really I can’t even explain how relatable these two songs have been to me. I just heard this for the first time today. It hit home. My Mama passed Sept 9th 2022. It's been one of the hardest pains I've felt so far on life and I've seriously felt pain before. Losing your mama when you're in your 30s and having the rest of your life to live without her is the worst. I miss her so much. And it's ironic when Nf says save a table for 4 because she had 4 kids but had other kids that looked up to her. She was so fkn loved by so many people. I miss you mama! Til we meet again!
