Break The Silence
NFD Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Slipping through the silence, breaking through, in the dawn-light,
I'm back again, and i'm walking home, come back.
Slipping through the silence, breaking through, night
Walking home in the half-light, so cold to touch,
And i wonder are you in my arms tonight, so beautiful tonight,
Your beautiful tonight.
And we walk in silence through the night fall,
And we break the dawn light and the morning calls,
Your so beautiful in my eyes, your the wonder of, the wonder of my life.
And we walk in silence,
To scared to touch you, to drawn to leave
You're beautiful tonight.
And you know i want it, and you want it to.
Break, break the silence,
Break, break the silence,

Break, you've got to break the silence,
Just break, you've got to break the silence...

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to NFD's song Break the Silence depict the journey of the singer as he walks home in the half-light after a night out. The silence seems to be broken by the dawn-light, and the singer seems to be questioning whether the person he desires is in his arms at that moment. He marvels at their beauty, and they walk in silence, too scared to touch but too drawn to leave. The chorus repeatedly urges to break the silence, indicating the overwhelming urge to connect with the loved one.

The song's lyrics tap into a powerful human desire to break free from silence, to connect with someone and communicate on a level that transcends simple conversation. The line "you're the wonder of my life" suggests the deep and powerful bond the singer shares with their love interest.

The song may be interpreted as a plea to break down emotional barriers and be honest with someone about one's feelings. The chorus's repetition reinforces the importance of breaking the silence, taking risks and pursuing love. Ultimately, the lyrics to this song encourage people to stop hesitating and to act on their emotional impulses.

Yes , you're right. The bassist Tony Pettit was a founding member of Fields of the Nephilim (FotN). The Drummer here, Simon Rippin, played on Nephilim album 'Zoom', a solo project of FotN singer Carl McCoy.

MrEco2005

Almost everything, what the Nephilims touch, turns into the gold.

Abrimaal

I've heard a longer guitar solo - The Cure on a stage performing "A Forest", The album version is about 5 mins long, the live versions even 15 mins.

Ness Xergling

Yes, but this solo is sublime.

T. Y. so much, bro. This informations means a lot for me.

SubGothius

Bassist Tony Pettitt is the only core member of NFD from FotN; however, the amazing guitar solo on this track is a guest spot by FotN guitarist Peter Yates.

Lunatic4Bizcas

Wasn't aware of that anecdote, but yes, the outro of the song is amazingly epic!
