Formed in 2004, NICO Touches the Walls won the LOTTE Prize at the 2004 YAMAHA TEENS’ MUSIC FESTIVAL. They made the indie debut with Senha & Co. and are now signed to Ki/oon Records.
In November 2019, the band announced that they will break up after 15 years, citing that they had a "feeling of wanting to go see new scenery."

The lyrics of "SURVIVE" by NICO Touches the Walls are about surviving against all odds and finding one's way despite the chaos around. The first verse describes a spider holding onto a poison and a person covered in dust like an idol. The second verse talks about overcoming many difficulties and being able to talk and laugh when one has accumulated some wealth. The chorus then repeats the phrase "Dare ga kaunda eien no SURVIVE, Kane wo motte ikinokore saa DIVE," which roughly translates to "Survive forever whoever can hold on, now dive." Here, the singer is encouraging the listener to persevere and continue living no matter how tough the situation gets.
The second verse continues with the singer asking if someone has a cigarette and witnessing someone who has so many cigarette butts in their ashtray. He then talks about how one should enjoy today and indulge in their dreams and fantasies, even if tonight they are nothing but food, trying to explain that even if someone feels like they are nothing, they should keep going. The last line of the song repeats the phrase "Boku wa ima COLA wo nonderu," meaning "I am drinking cola now," which could be seen as a simple pleasure in life someone can enjoy even if they have nothing else.
