In The Night
NIM VIND Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
In the age of Love
The love of Harlots
You know where this began
And you know the way
You're so Devoted
That you run from
Our new weapon that's dominating her life
Our weapon that you run from
Our new weapon is all we are
In the night is a gift
Chopping at the end
For love of Harlots
You know where this began
And you know the way
You're so Devoted
The first line of NIM VIND's song "In the Night" asserts that the night is a gift. This line suggests that the singer cherishes the darkness, rather than fearing or avoiding it. As the song continues, "the age of Love" and "the love of Harlots" are mentioned, which throws the listener into confusion about the true intention of the song as it is not quite clear if it is a love song, an ode to the night, or a cautionary tale. It appears that the singer is possibly glorifying the act of prostitution, referring to Harlots as a symbol of rebellion, seduction, and power. There is a sense of control indicated by the singer as they refer to the knowledge of where they began and the way to their destination, appearing to be a guide for some and a threat to others.
The mention of "Our new weapon" suggests that the singer is part of a collective that it's launching a new tool or strategy that is disruptive, forcing people to run away from it. The use of the phrase "her life" indicates that the weapon could have a devastating effect on someone or something, possibly indicating a negative outcome. The singer's identification with the weapon indicates that they have accepted and aligned themselves with it, which reflects on their devotion and loyalty to a shared cause even if it has the potential to cause harm. The song is structured so that the first and last verses mirror one another, emphasizing the idea that the night remains a gift even though it may contain hidden intentions or actions.
