Warrior
NME Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
He is all alone
Looking for life
Ripping flesh from bone
Roaring engines
A blast from the rear
Turn to spy it
Evil breeds fear
Max is the warrior
Beware the warrior
Living with a pain
That none shall know
Love turned to hate
So long ago
Kill the nomad
Interceptor
Life's all new here
His engines roar
Max is the warrior
Beware the warrior
Protects the weak
Caring for none
Life is to death
He'll waste them all
Be watching for
The black demon
Roars from below
Max is like none
Max is the warrior
Beware the warrior
The lyrics to NME's "Warrior" describe the singer, Max, as he roams alone on the road, ravaging those who cross his path. He is fueled by an insatiable desire to hunt and destroy, a trait that has slowly consumed him over time. In his mind, life is nothing but a never-ending battle and his only purpose is to be the strongest, the toughest, the deadliest. The roaring engines of his vehicle, the Interceptor, serve as his battle cry, striking fear into the hearts of his enemies. Despite his ruthless nature, the song hints at a deeper motivation behind Max's behavior, suggesting that he may have suffered an emotional trauma that transformed his love into hate. Nevertheless, he still manages to protect the weak and vulnerable, albeit with a complete lack of empathy.
The song's title, "Warrior," perfectly summarizes the themes explored in the lyrics. Max is a warrior in the most primal sense of the word. He is a survivor who has learned to thrive in a world where only the strong survive. He is a fighter who meets every challenge head-on, without fear or hesitation. However, there is a sense of caution that permeates the entire song, hinting at the potential dangers of following in Max's footsteps. The repeated refrain, "Beware the warrior," serves as a warning to those who may be tempted to emulate Max's behavior. It suggests that although he may be a formidable force to be reckoned with, his tactics and mindset may ultimately lead to destruction.
