As a singer, Naaz initially gained media attention as a participant in the Holland's Got Talent TV show in 2014, but her independent career in electronic indie pop seriously took off in 2016 when she started to release singles on Spotify. 'Sadboy' (2016) was the first, although Naaz herself feels that was "just a sketch". She considers 'Words' (2017) to be her proper début song.
Naaz released a string of singles and two EPs: Bits of Naaz (2018) and The Beautiful Struggle (2019).
She disappeared from the spotlights for a year or two, battled some demons and returned as an independent artist in May 2022 - a woman rather than a girl, relocated from Rotterdam to Amsterdam - with the single 'Sad Violins' and, in January 2023, the album Never Have I Ever.

Mmm (Ah-ha, ah)
You say I'm pretty, so the mirror feels different now
A little loving is all I need (Mmm)
Yeah, yeah, last night was funny
Somehow, I don't feel sleepy now
A little loving is all I need
Yeah, yeah, yeah
Oh, why does it feel like it could've been anybody
Could've been anybody, could've been anybody?
Why does it feel like it could've been anybody
Could've been anybody, could've been anybo–uh
Oh
'Cause it's true, I fell in love with you loving me
Yeah, it's true, I fell in love with you loving me
It's not you, it's not you, it's not you
For real though, this time it's actually me
I fell in love with you loving–
Why don't we have dinner?
I can only taste my guilt eatin' me
'Cause real loving is what you need
You hold my hands, but I only like the way you look at me
Real loving is what you need
So I think I'll lie down to sleep
'Cause sometimes it feels like you could've been anybody
Could've been anybody, could've been anybody
Why does it feel like it could've been anybody
Could've been anybody, could've been anybo–
Oh
'Cause it's true, I fell in love with you loving me
Yeah, it's true, I fell in love with you loving me
It's not you, it's not you, it's not you
For real though, this time it's actually me
I fell in love with you loving–
It's true, I fell in love with you loving me
Yeah, it's true, I fell in love with you loving me
Yeah, it's not you, it's not you, it's not you
For real though, this time it's actually me
I fell in love with you loving–
Oh
(Ooh)
I fell in love with you loving me
(Ooh)
I fell in love with you loving–
The song "It’s Not You It’s Me" by Naaz talks about the internal struggles of a person in a relationship. The beginning of the song sets the tone with the lines "You say I'm pretty, so the mirror feels different now, A little loving is all I need." The lyrics suggest that the person's self-image has improved after receiving compliments from their partner. The following lines "Oh, why does it feel like it could've been anybody" suggest the person is questioning the authenticity of their feelings for their partner. They may feel like they are falling in love with the idea of being loved rather than the person themselves. The chorus "It's not you, it's not you, it's not you, for real though, this time it's actually me, I fell in love with you loving me" confirms the person's internal conflict. They are admitting that their partner is not the problem, but rather, they are struggling with their own feelings and insecurities.
The second verse delves deeper into the person's internal struggle, with lines like "Why don't we have dinner? I can only taste my guilt eatin' me, 'Cause real loving is what you need". The person is caught in a dilemma where they know their partner deserves real love, but they can only feel guilty and unsure about their own feelings. The line "You hold my hands, but I only like the way you look at me" suggests that the person may be enjoying the attention and admiration from their partner, but may not necessarily reciprocate those feelings. The song ends with the repetition of the chorus, further emphasizing the internal struggle of the person and their admission that it's not their partner, but rather themselves that they need to work on.
Overall, "It’s Not You It’s Me" is a raw and emotional song that explores the complex emotions of being in a relationship while struggling with internal conflicts and insecurity.
