Besame mucho
Como si fuera esta noche la última vez
Besame
Besame mucho
Que tengo miedo perderte
... perderte después
Besame
Besame mucho
Como si fuera esta noche la última vez
Besame
Besame mucho
Que tengo miedo perderte
... perderte después
Quiero tenerte muy cerca
Mirarme en tus ojos
Verte junto a mi
Piensa que talvez mañana
Yo ya estaré lejos
Muy lejos de ti
Besame
Besame mucho
Como si fuera esta noche la última vez
Besame
Besame mucho
Que tengo miedo perderte
... perderte después
Besame
Besame mucho
Como si fuera esta noche la última vez
Besame
Besame mucho
Que tengo miedo perderte
... perderte después
Que tengo miedo perderte
... perderte después
Que tengo miedo perderte
... perderte después
Que tengo miedo perderte
... perderte después
Que tengo miedo perderte
... perderte
... después
The lyrics of "Bésame Mucho" are a plea from the singer to their love interest to kiss them deeply, as if it might be the last time they do so. The lyricist expresses their fear of losing this person - a fear that pervades the entire song. They want to feel the warmth of the other's embrace and look into their eyes before it's too late. The line "Pensar que tal vez mañana" ("to think that perhaps tomorrow") reinforce the lyrics’ underlying sense of heartbreak and the fleeting nature of love.
The song was originally composed by the Mexican songwriter Consuelo Velázquez in 1940 but has since been covered by countless other artists in various styles and languages. Most famously, the jazz legend Louis Armstrong performed a cover of "Bésame Mucho" in 1956, cementing the song's place in American popular culture. Its soaring melody and evocative lyrics have made it a classic for romantic ballads across the globe.
