Najoua originally studied law beginning in 2001 at the University of Nancy, but left for Paris to pursue a career in music. She met some success after a casting call when she joined the group Benoît, who had a successful single called Tourne-toi Benoît, which touched on the subjcet of homosexuality. The later singles from the group, however, only met moderate success, and eventually the group parted ways.
Later she met the songwriter Christophe Casanave, whose work had already been performed by popular French acts Steeve Estatof and Marc Lavoine. The two worked together on a song called Stella, which would later appear on her debut album.
In 2005, Najoua released her first single titled Gabriel, an electric-pop dance track. The song became a huge hit in France, and peaked at number three on the Top 40 charts in France. On 29 May 2006, she released her debut album titled Entre Deux Mondes, which debuted at #7 on the French charts and at #1 on the iTunes France music store. In late 2006 and early 2007, she will embark on a tour across France and Francophone Europe to promote her album. She has been compared to Mylène Farmer.

Tu fais du Mal aux gens,
A gonfler ta bouche,
Tes lèvres jusqu'au Sang,
Vois comme on te goûte
Quand Tu mets tes seins en avant!
Ma Sainte-NiTouche,
Celle que Tu retouches,
Je l'aimais mieux avant.
Tu ressembles à toutes
Celles qu'on dévisage en passant
Ma Sainte-NiTouche, Ma Sainte-NiTouche,
Ma Sainte-NiTouche, Ma Sainte-NiTouche,
Ma Sainte-NiTouche, Ma Sainte-NiTouche
Ma Sainte-NiTouche,
Nos curs à Contre-Temps,
Parfois J'ai des doutes,
Serais-Tu Femme-Enfant
Qui dérive en douce?
Ne prends pas ton air Innocent!
Ma Sainte-NiTouche, Ma Sainte-NiTouche,
Ma Sainte-NiTouche, Ma Sainte-NiTouche,
Ma Sainte-NiTouche, Ma Sainte-NiTouche
Tu rêvais tes Amants...
Au sein de ta couche...
Immaculée de blanc...
Ma Sainte-NiTouche, Ma Sainte-NiTouche,
Ma Sainte-NiTouche, Ma Sainte-NiTouche,
Ma Sainte-NiTouche, Ma Sainte-NiTouche
The song "Ma Sainte-NiTouche" by Najoua Belyzel is a powerful commentary on the societal pressure placed on women to conform to a certain physical standard. The title itself is a play on words, as "sainte-ni-touche" is a French expression that refers to someone who is pure and untouchable, both physically and morally. However, in the context of the song, it is clear that this purity is actually a facade, used to hide the main character's insecurities and conform to the expectations of society.
The song's opening lines already set the tone for the rest of the lyrics. The main character addresses someone, whom she calls "Ma Sainte-NiTouche," accusing them of causing harm to others by inflating their lips and flaunting their breasts. This can be seen as a direct criticism of societal pressure on women to make themselves more attractive through drastic means, such as plastic surgery. The main character takes issue with this, arguing that this kind of physical manipulation only reinforces the objectification of women and does not truly bring any lasting satisfaction.
The song also touches on the theme of authenticity. The main character acknowledges that she used to like the person she's addressing, but now feels that they have become too similar to others, losing their individuality. Her repeated use of the phrase "Ma Sainte-NiTouche" can be seen as a way of emphasizing the other person's conformity, highlighting how they are actively contributing to a culture of sameness.
Overall, "Ma Sainte-NiTouche" is a powerful commentary on the societal pressures placed on women to conform to a certain type of beauty. By highlighting the damaging effects of these pressures, Najoua Belyzel reminds listeners of the importance of authenticity and self-love.
